The Edvard Munch 'The Scream' is one of my all time favourite images... but it is its dramatic colour as much as anything else that sets it apart.. while I applaud Invader for pushing the boat out and trying something new I don't think his invader images replace or invoke the burning red skyscape of the original that encapsulates the anguish and torment of the central character of the painting......

I've spent a lot of time in Oslo and was lucky enough to see the original (or one of the) Screams many times!

There is also a huge replica of the Scream on the side of the apartment block where Munch lived!

I do like this print but I just dont understand what the significance of the invaders on the print depict! They dont hold much relevance in this image!

I would have loved an invader tiled piece, but guess I may have to wait a little longer to pick one up (at cost).

If anyone had made their bed years ago it was Invader. He limited himself by choosing the Rubik's Cube as his medium and there was only so far he could take it. At least artists that use other mediums can change subject matter and still stay fresh because they're not working with a limited palate.

I'm wondering if he does start to diverge from the Rubik's Cube will the change be too drastic for him to survive? IMO he's stuck w/ the Rubik's Cube...as this is a pretty big miss.

I love the tile pieces and hope he never changes. It's so rewarding to find an Invader in the street and this is what his art is about to me.

A friend of mine who knows Mr Invader and his team quite well told me that when they put the new Invader in Rathbone Place W1 near Post Office (see below), they actually got caught by the builder's owner but when he found out it was Invader he told them "Go on, I haven't seen anything"... apparently he then even provided them with some filler to fix it... ;-)

completely agree and can see how the tiles may get a little monotonous for him but thats why everyone loves him such a simple and recognizable idea (i suppose a bit like obey), i just hope he isnt just moving in a new direction motivated by money...

i'd take one of those over the munch bunch any day

I think the invaded munchs are quite good. A carved wood print does not need to look too clinical, so the roughness is OK. What I dont like is the price, but if there are enough buyers, the price is right I guess..

Personal feeling is that they're nice, not 280 nice though! If I had seen this and not known edition or price, I would have thought this was gonna be a fragments of Faile style open release at 50 notes which would have been cool. Oh well as fuzzyduck said still looking forward to munching a waffle

We thought that some of you here actually interested in art and the process of creating it may like to know the original woodcuts are hand-carved from beech and editioned using a Hunter Penrose relief press.
