Plus he's not offering any provenance at all - POW would be able to confirm their purchase of signed Gannies.
As we all know POW do make some numbering errors - but they correct them.

Is this right ?, by snorky on Dec 15, 2006 10:48:15 GMT 1, The number is in the right place - i.e. the right side of the print for a signed version, but the fact that the seller is distancing himself from the prints veracity doesnt inspire confidence - its bad selling tecnique at the very least
Im not after one, but wouldnt touch this anyway, given that theres a load of others about for around the ยฃ2K mark

when i asked him to explain the numbering.
"I really do not know about the print number and the signatures. I noticed the signed 150 thing as well, but didn?t question it when POW sent me the print.. I did check out some other signed ones and they were the same though? I hope this helps.
I can assure you that the print is 100% authentic."
then this reply when i asked about the clone post
"thats my mate's print.. he doesn't have a camera! (or mugs).. I asked him to wait a week. but he hasn't..
I have a rubbish selection of mugs also.."

1) Contact POW, ask them if this number matches with the seller's name in both the signed and unsigned databases.
2) If the name matches in the unsigned batch, there's a chance that this may be the work of a really great signature forger (Banksy's signature isn't *that* complicated). Not 100%, but a chance nonetheless. Should definitely proceed with caution.
3) If the name matches in the signed batch, then it's probably POW error. They must have written '500' instead of '150' by mistake... in which case, it should be fixed either before or after the sale - provided that POW is agreeable. I wouldn't proceed with the purchase unless POW has agreed to fix the boo-boo after it's in your hands. If not, and if you win the auction, perhaps the seller can get it fixed via POW before sending it to you.

Just realized that this listing has ended, so perhaps it's all moot  But... I also just realized that this number was 112/500... if the bidder is entirely honest, then it should definitely be a POW error. My Trolley Hunters is 110 and my Festival is 127, which makes me think that number 112 of Grannies should almost definitely have been sold at Barely Legal in Los Angeles, and therefore should not have the POW stamp. And it should definitely not be signed if that's the case. I certainly hope the winning bidder didn't jump into it without doing some prior research...

For those reasons I reckon it was legit. Considering the prices of some of the items POW sell you'd think they'd take a bit more care numbering their items.
