The cheapest Hirst I didnt get away with., by basho on Jan 7, 2012 2:53:37 GMT 1, This is the cheapest Hirst I have ever purchased. Unfortuntaly the gallery phoned me the next morning saying their had been a fault and refunded my ยฃ15 shipping 
At least for 12 hours I was the proud owner of a free Hirst reduced by ยฃ8,500.00 - I even got a confirmation of order email.

It happened about 12 months ago. I didn't ever have any legal right, unless they actually sent it which wasn't ever going to happen - If you saw a Hirst or even a Banksy that was for sale for รยฃ0.00 reduced from รยฃ8000 tell me you wouldn't at least have a punt.

I think the confirmation mail made it yours, and if youd tried you could have proved it in court if needed. But at the same time, if they mailled ad said sorry not available, and you said "yeah thats cool" then you released them from the contract.
At the same time i wouldnt want to see the gallery lose that kind of cash. However, i sell online, and have made some shocking price mistakes, but if someone buys them before i have realised the mistake, I SEND THEM!!! Basically as i see it as my mistake, not the buyers, who was just quick enough to get themselves a sh1t hot deal.
Just the way i see stuff like this. Would i have pushed to get the Hirst, dont know, but its possible.
