C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by bonsai on Jan 14, 2012 4:09:00 GMT 1, I will be submitting a few rats for C.O.A in the next few weeks. I was just wanting to get an idea from other members on How many pics they have sent for a C.O.A.
Obviously I will take detailed pics of the P.O.W stamps "front and back". Close ups of each sections of the rats : "How many is to many ?" also a pic from each corner. "is this required"
Anyways interested to hear your thoughts. Im in Australia and don't really want to have to send them over.
If anyone is willing to forward me pics they have submitted send to tim_j_paulsen@hotmail.com

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by Deleted on Jan 14, 2012 4:25:44 GMT 1, From experience I've found you need to send a crystal clear close-up picture of the numbering, a crystal clear close-up picture of the signature, wider views of both and a picture of the whole piece, so that's about 5 or so? Those pictures + details of who had the piece prior and details of the history (ie. who it's registered with at PC already) always helps. IF they need further detail they'll email you, hopefully if the history/pictures are in order there shouldn't be a need for to send them over.

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by bonsai on Jan 14, 2012 4:30:15 GMT 1, thanks D.D.
I have purchase receipt for two with the previous owner being registered with POW. So they wont be a problem I just want to get the pics right.
The third rat will be harder as the previous owner lost the documentation that was provided to him when he purchased the print. I have no doubts on its authenticity, but it might be easier to send it over if required. He cant recall the name of the previous owner and didn't put the print in his name.

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by Shoot Again on Jan 14, 2012 9:21:04 GMT 1, From my experience, there is a decent probability you'll have to ship them to POW. My case was more than crystal clear (registered name, purchase receipt, close up pics, etc...) and they still ask me to bring the print over ! Altogether the process took 3 months !!! Good luck, hope they won't be as fussy with you as they were with me ;-)

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by Mister Whisper on Feb 9, 2012 6:19:18 GMT 1, I just went through this process from the U.S. I didn't have to send the print in, but I did have to send in a whole lot of pics and documentation.
From the POW form, I filled the ten slots by sending 4 pics (1-high-res jpg of the front of the print, 2-high-res jpg of back, 3-macro of POW seal/numbering front, 4-macro of rear seal), and 6 scans of sales receipts and listings from the 3 owners (me, the previous owner, and the original owner). Among the receipts was the original POW receipt with the original owner's name.
One week later, I received the email from Pest Control requesting more, close-up shots. They sent a close-up from "Love Rat" as an example. They didn't specify how many to send, so I sent them 10 frame-filling close-ups. My print wasn't a rat, but if you're still looking for samples of close-ups let me know and I'll send a few to your email address.
6 weeks after sending in the close-ups I received an email from Pest Control telling me that the print had been authenticated and a COA will be issued for 55GBP. The entire process took almost exactly two months. Fortunately, I did not have to send the print in, but that may be because I was able to provide extensive documentation tracing ownership all the way back to POW.
On a related note, they requested payment through something called a BACs transfer. My U.S. bank has never even heard of this -- is it the same as a standard wire transfer? Does anyone know if they can take payment via credit card or paypal?

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by sfinks on Feb 9, 2012 6:57:15 GMT 1, I am about 2-3 weeks into this process. Sent in 6 or 7 pictures, each over 2mb. They quickly replayed(few days) asking me some questions about its history and owners. I replayed with the information they wanted, but could not document any of it. I did not send in photos of the back as the print was purchased framed from the gallery to the seller. How will that affect my case? Waiting for a replay. Is £55 their standard fee?

It was a silver flags though, so common but I would think quite hard to fake considering the paper

Yes, £55 is their standard fee. It might cost a little more for VAT if you're in the UK.
I don't know what determines what criteria Pest control will use in the absence of a paper trail, but in your case it probably depends on the gallery that your print came from originally. If it's a gallery that's known to them and has a good rep and a history of selling Banksy's work, hopefully that will be a big factor in your favor.

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by Phear Loathing on Feb 17, 2012 8:15:52 GMT 1, I have a trolleys which I am pretty sure I am screwed with. I know it's real as I compared it to a friends who has PC, but no paper trail... Not even sure who the original owner is.
Sucks

I wouldn't be worried, I've lots of prints bought back in the day with limited paper trail, because often there wasn't much of one. If its a trolleys is it a POW version or the US modern multiples version? The latter isn't blind stamped, but can still get COA. The POW version is probably easier to get sorted. Have a go at getting a COA, it might just happen without too much trouble.
Just reminded me I owe you a pm.....

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by Trevorm on Feb 17, 2012 13:38:02 GMT 1, Oh dear! I've got 3 that need COA's but I'm too old, frazzled, busy and lack those certain technical and computer skills like posting pics and stuff - also 2 of 'em are framed and that's probably another can of worms to sort.
One day, one day - perhaps I'll have to take a week off!

BACS is basically the same as a telegraphic transfer. Not quite though but if you have their bank account and send a TT telegraphic transfer this will be ok. BACS is just a bank crediting system mainly used for salaries etc make sure you reference the TT though so they know where and who it came from

C.O.A - Pictures of Print - How many ... , by bonsai on Aug 17, 2012 14:51:11 GMT 1, I been away for a while I guess I should update this thread.
I supplied P.C with detailed pics of both placard rats. Also supplied proof of purchase. P.C was able to get in touch with the previous owner with in a short period.
COA's were finalised within 4 weeks.
- Prints were not required to be posted. I set up a photobucket gallery for P.C and also sent pics.
Thanks for all the information supplied above. Tim
