Removing Mold, by kjzimm on Jan 18, 2012 19:49:07 GMT 1, Hi All,
A friend came to me with a question on paper restoration.
He has a 19th century lithograph and a letter on parchment dated 1861. Both appear to have mold. They are both framed and have been for decades. Both came from the same source, which suggests the problem started at or near the same time. Maybe one impacted the other when stored together.
Does anyone here have any experience with removing mold or restoring paper?
Cheers, KJ

Removing Mold, by mayhem on Jan 25, 2012 23:49:50 GMT 1, Its called 'foxing'. Can be treated with chemicals, and made less obvious but cant be removed totally. The process does weaken the paper. They add character but are not what you really need.

I've had a run in with him today and am livid at the service and respect that he has towards his customers...I know a lot of people rate him and his work...I don't and will never be using him again...you might wanna check out my recent thread...yes...this is his 'TRADE SECRET'!
