It leaves the Auction open to dealers who do not want their identity known to others.

to be fair (and no i have no connections with seller whatsoever), that's down to how ebay do their percentages these days. its one person winging about a naked chef DVD (which seller didn't post but also didn't take payment for), hardly proof of being an art thief.

Banksy - GWB, by mouser on Jan 23, 2012 1:13:38 GMT 1, Nothing was ever mentioned about them being an "art theif", but when the only indication you have on ebay is someones feeback, a less than impecable 100% would have me worried when handing over several grand to a complete stranger.
I'm not bidding on the piece, but on principle, private auctions and poor feedback make me nervous of sellers.

and as I said, private auctions and bad feedback get me nervous of sellers, we can agree to disagree, as I prefer to buy from folk I know are not shill bidding, hiding anything or known to have poor feedback ( not saying they are shilling or hiding anything, but no way to know with private bidding). Maybe I'm overcautious, but rather that than ignoring the potential warning signs. There are enough warning tales on here regarding paypal that, even though i use them from time to time, I dont believe they "have my back".
Anyhow, its all just personal opinion.

Banksy - GWB, by UK Art Dealer on Jan 23, 2012 12:36:36 GMT 1, I agree - there are several GWB on the web at 4000 (give or take) and there accepting offers at that price - whay you'd be bidding at a £3950 is bizarre.
