I also thought (still might think) it's the work of a copycat. But (1) it's not his most well known image, thus a strange one to copy; (2) for a single color stencil (as opposed to the multi-color piece he previously put up in Westwood), the stencil marks look pretty close to the same; (3) it was a fairly large in size piece (same size as the one in Westwood); (4) the lack of feet is done in a very Banksy-esque style; and (4) I have heard rumors that the man is now in L.A.

Any experts (<cough> fragile <cough>) care to shed some light?

Banksy would have at least coloured the crayons, otherwise what's the point of the piece??
And you only have to look at the photos to see the stencil is more basic and not quite right... and not sprayed the same.

Get it authenticated by the forum, cut it out and place on eBay next week?

Obviously if you want to paint different sized images then different stencils will be used, but otherwise the same stencil can be used more than once.
Depending on the detail you don't generally cut stencils over and over again.

Interesting points. Thanks for all the feedback. I guess unless it shows up on his website, I will go with my intial feeling (that it was a fake).

BTW, Pistol, thanks for the close up shots of your stencil work. Very impressive.
