INFO: Banksy / Griffin Wrong War poster, by Deleted on Jan 31, 2012 1:46:12 GMT 1, Hello--
Anyone here seen enough of these to know what they should look like?
A few years back I bought a Banksy / Griffin Wrong War poster off a credible UK seller on eBay. A litho on fairly thin paper. I love this image, getting ready to IKEA frame it, and just want to know if it seems authentic.
The face looks colored in Banksy's early marker style.
A few images:
Thanks.

Hard to see--does your face have the same marker-line coloring in?

I'll get it out of the folio and check - I'm fairly sure that my yellow is printed not done with a highlighter pen.

INFO: Banksy / Griffin Wrong War poster, by Deleted on Jan 31, 2012 13:48:50 GMT 1, I mean mine is printed, the yellow face as well.
But the technique for making the original drawing/painting the posters were then made from--when you look at it close up--it seems the face was colored in by marker.
I understand that some of the early sketches--sharks, tanks and cars with speakers, etc.--Banksy drew these things in marker. Maybe same style.
Can see the marker lines clearly in the first CU photo of face I posted on this thread.
Thanks for your help.

INFO: Banksy / Griffin Wrong War poster, by fastone on Feb 2, 2012 17:44:56 GMT 1, Hi Japandemic
Here is the face of mine
To the naked eye it isn't as obviously "filled in" like yours but in the photo you can see that it definitely not continuous colour and the white areas are in different places.
Mine is A2 on really thin paper (with quite a few dings).
These were produced for the February 2003 anti-war protests in London and given away in the weeks prior to the demo by various shops. They were just left on counters for do-it-yourself protestors to stick onto placards.
The image featured heavily in the Banksy vs Eine held in Copenhagen in 2003. (Search on here there's some good photos).
I've also got a Griffin wrong war sticker on backing from 2002. I'll try and find it and post photos. It's about A5, maybe slightly bigger.
Cheers.

Can you give any examples of Banksy's 'early marker style'?
