My framer broke my Banksy, by boatyyy on Feb 7, 2012 6:10:35 GMT 1, there was a thread on here not too long ago about 'is banksy an investment' - got me to questioning myself... what has this guy/gal actually done to warrant such a fan base?... the Cardinal Sin piece was the one that sunk in for me... why before, I can't fully recollect now (except for the morons piece)... questioning just about everything these days... what is it about this 'banksy' that has attracted folks? This should be its own thread. Interesting question. missed your post mmmike, but may be an idea... my original post was meant as a rhetorical question which forced me to re-educate myself the last few days ... seems some of the known meaning behind some of these individual pieces is lost and may be embedded in some of these threads from long ago and now the images are now only flowing through the buy/sell sections and not the thinking minds... some were in fact quite powerful and meaningful, to me anyways...
some revived education around some of the pieces may be useful on this forum from time to time (particularly for the newbie and/or coinfused)... (btw, not opposed to buy/sell, whatever)... but, there's some historical relevance in some of those pieces, which should remain at the forefront too, imo...
consider the socio-economic pieces and of course that walker piece from just last year - so little discussion and exchange of ideas about the topics on here - suggests maybe the artist still has its head on re some topical issues - but the fan base has changed or dormant, dunno...
(for the hype police out there - zero financial windfall from this post, lolllll - just think each one has to teach one and thinking together is so much better, is all...)

My framer broke my Banksy, by jonti on Mar 8, 2012 23:13:03 GMT 1, An update on this ---
Pest Control contacted me today confirming the print is the one registered, and are issuing another COA with a note that it has been renumbered at a later date. I take this as they are not renumbering it themselves, but using the framer's booted out assistant's wicked handwriting. (Would this affect the value do you think)? Framers are waiting for PCO to return the print for restoration of tape damage.

My framer broke my Banksy, by johnnyh on Mar 9, 2012 4:24:07 GMT 1, Shouldn't. Effect the value although can see that people will possibly use it to reduce the price.
It is just a number after all. As long as its the orig print who cares in my book.
Good luck & just get it on the wall

My framer broke my Banksy, by Deleted on Mar 9, 2012 10:23:22 GMT 1, Hi, I just saw this and thought i would add my two pennys worth. As a collector i would advise you that this is now worth alot less than the -20%-30% as quoted, this print has been seriously devalued to the extent that it is only worth round 20%-30% of its original value...ask sothebys! can you imagine someone rubbing out warhols signature then re signing it?? it would be worthless almost. You need to get the money back or print replaced by the framer as you might as well be holding an unsigned print.

It was only the number that was buffed and re-numbered as far as I understand.

My framer broke my Banksy, by jonti on Mar 9, 2012 13:24:38 GMT 1, Yes it is unsigned
I would agree that if i was to put the print up for sale, that prospective buyers would try and talk down the value because of the issue.
Just waiting for it to be sent back now, there's a Pulp Fiction-shaped gap on my living room wall!
