I think there are plenty of ways of reading that sentence by Adam. Sure enough the way you've interpreted it is one. I tend to think of what he said on that CNN piece... does art always have to be a commodity?

You can see this with the pottery pieces, all of them are really simple. I imagine he drew straight onto them without sketching or marking the pottery. He's able to do this because of that confidence and skill developed from the thousands of paintings hes done before. The street pieces are like his sketchbook.
