Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by Deleted on Feb 8, 2012 21:33:01 GMT 1, Was he right to go though?
Should JT have been stripped of the captaincy by the FA (after all, he is innocent until proven guilty, or at least that's my understanding of the law in the UK!)?
Is Jose Mourinho better odds at 8-1 as 'appy 'arry would now look like part of some kind of shoe-in and the FA can't have that?

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by silvermyn on Feb 8, 2012 21:54:28 GMT 1, Mourinho is too much of a princess for my liking. He was great at Chelsea and half convinced me to ask for a Braun at Christmas but not an England Manager IMO.

Rednap's the best choice as long as we don't face Monaco in the final of any big tournament, which I don't think is very likely

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by Deleted on Feb 8, 2012 22:20:59 GMT 1, Alex Ferguson anyone?
FWIW, I quite liked Capello as his track record was reasonably good, you can only play the cards you're dealt and he didn't (to his detriment) take any shite from his bosses. Having said that I reckon he got a reasonable compromise agreement on the way out!

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by bigtlt on Feb 8, 2012 22:28:28 GMT 1, Got more chance of tying knots in fog than you have of seeing Sir Alex become England manager.
Terry Venables or Glenn Hoddle I think, both did fairly well before and both pushed out of the job for non football reasons.
Redknapp will want to finish the season with Spurs, although now might be his only chance to get the job.

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by letiss on Feb 8, 2012 23:25:57 GMT 1, Mourinho or maybe Wenger for me. Shame there aren't any stand out English candidates
...Hoddle, the man's a joke.
But definitely anyone but 'Agent' Redknapp. Just look as his record, at the clubs he's been at the result has been: Bournemouth-bankrupt, West Ham- nearly bankrupt, Saints-bankrupt, P%mpey-bankrupt. Spurs have just given him so much cash even he can't ruin them. I know there's no money at the FA, but he'd be spending most of his time selling Wembley executive boxes to his mates.

Not directly, but he has had plenty of influence over the finances of clubs. Take Manderic giving him nice (legal) gifts in Monaco bank accounts. And what has 'appy 'arry ever achieved? One FA Cup bought with borrowed money that has pretty much destroyed that club or how about two premiership relegations. You could say the chairman could have said no to signing the cheques, but when the money does run out he's always off to his next job. I'd rather have the Wally with the brolly back.

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by Warm Gun on Feb 9, 2012 0:13:15 GMT 1, Don't forget he took Spurs from bottom of the premiership to the champions league quarter finals at our first attempt with a possible 3rd place premiership finish this season in just two years. A position that a so called world class, UEFA cup winning manager left us in! Spurs were probably the first club hes managed where's he's had the opportunity to spend some cash. Despite that fact he's been restrained in his spending and has made some canny acquisitions which seem like genuine bargains. (Van der Vaart) He's also reduced our wage bill and brought top players in on loan for a fraction of their actual wages. (Adebayor) He gets the best out of players wherever he goes, he reignites supposedly finished careers and improves young players no end. Just look at Bales development under Redknapp. He's gone from being a substitute defender who hadn't played in a winning team for 22 odd games to being currently one of the best footballers on the plant after changing his position. Kyle Walker is another example of this and I expect Jake Livermore to progress in the same way. Kaboul is finally living up to the promise that showed as a youngster after several false starts under several other managers.
Redknapp is also very tactically astute, he's not afraid to change a system if it's not working, something we haven't seen in an England manager since Venables.
I think he done wonders at Pompy too. To take a team with serious financial problems over and deliver them their first bit of silverware in decades (ever?) was a tremendous achievement.
Cap, the more I think about it the more I believe he's the man for the job. I hope he can manage both positions because I'd be devastated if he left Spurs.
England played their worst ever football under the Wally with the brolly, I hope those days never return.
btw, I hope my positive comments haven't upset any Southampton or Bournemouth fans. I know he didn't leave those clubs on 100% good terms. I've got my Spurs cap on so may have a blinkered view of the man.

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by johnnyh on Feb 9, 2012 11:30:05 GMT 1, Fabiola got the perfect excuse and milked it. He has quit as in his contract no negotiations till after the Euros. But all the jobs are gone by then. He has been getting offers from all over and will shortly take one. My guess is Italy or that mad lot from Russia.
Although could be a vacancy at Spurs

Anybody can pick a side, you've got to be able to get them to play together as a team and do away with all the cliques and factions.

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by balibob on Feb 9, 2012 12:46:19 GMT 1, Agree with warm gun, would hate to see him leave but its the England job so will have to accept it. Might be nice if he does it on a temp basis to after the euro's, just to see if he can get our prima donna's to put some effort in for a change and stop acting like scared rabbits in a headlight. Best man for the job though.

Fabio Capello - QUITS!, by johnnyh on Feb 9, 2012 17:47:04 GMT 1, I hope Harry takes it but has just had 5 years of sh*t regardless of right or wrongs if he has anything dodgy in his back pocket he may not take as look what happened to Venables. Harry would love the England job but noticed in his sky interview when he was in his car and said his Mrs had not been well. Obviously pressure from the case he may well say not doing that.
