2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by katokato on Aug 9, 2007 17:16:28 GMT 1, Not that I have to justify my suspicions but, It just didn't look like Adam's work. It was also painted on canvas, yet wasn't a gallery piece. Haven't seen any of Adam's street pieces painted on canvas? I looked through adam's site which documents every piece that he has done and couldn't find it either. The auction was changed from 7 to 5 days because seller was going away. The auction ended without even a single bid and the item was unsold.
Ive seen a number of canvases by Adam. He's also left a few in the street. A friend of mine has a massive one. I think Adam paints on whatever he can find, I'm sure I remember reading that he started painting on cardboard as canvases were getting too expensive, then he started painting on both sides of the cardboard as he couldn't get enough of it.

2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by romanywg on Aug 9, 2007 19:24:56 GMT 1, They might be from Adam Neate but they're not great pieces are they? Remember that early Micallef that sold for ยฃ5,000 and the new seller was asking ยฃ17,000. These are the equivalent. Early pieces doesn't mean jack shit if they're not really very good and the artist is doing far superior work now.

2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by dave313perry on Aug 9, 2007 20:07:39 GMT 1, He asked me for 8k, didnt have any provenance, they could have been collected central london.
I quite liked them - better than alot of street works, not as good as his prints or originals at the Elms show, but still an original.
I was considering it, couldnt really afford them, but the no provenance was a deciding factor in not buying. and i dont really think it is comparable to the micallef original - The Mic wasnt instantly recognisable as a Mic IMO, it could have been done by any arty student, but these Canvas' were obviously works by Neate and were immediately recognisable as his work, providing their original of course!
Peace

So according to that they look like they were an edition of 3 rather than 2. as they are featured in a row of three

2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by jam on Aug 9, 2007 21:36:37 GMT 1, The truth is, they are slightly better than street pieces... as someone mentioned earlier. Nice, sure... but worth triple or more over the usual street piece prices? Really? Speculating the price of the set of 3 is anywhere near 15k is insane. Worse yet, someone will read that and think, yeah, well I can justify that kind of money now because someone else thinks its reasonable. It leaves no reason to wonder why the artists markets mentioned on this forum are priced so insanely... more money than brains to pay 10-15k for those.
Modifying the above... this isn't meant as a dig at anyone, but people need to think about what they say and how it is hyping things to insane levels. Also need to stay grounded comparing things like these works to gallery works!

2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by verbalkint on Aug 9, 2007 22:00:15 GMT 1, I like them, alot of his stuff from 2003 was like this, but he has moved on from it. I still think that they could fetch a nice tidy sum in a few years when neate originals are ยฃ150k each from the shows. Most of the pieces at elms were ยฃ25,000 + gordon, some were ยฃ30,000 + dreaded, the masks were ยฃ15,000 + bullshit and the 4 horsemen was ยฃ65,000 + TVAT. When you consider that they sold quicker than condoms in a french brothel during happy hour and there was a whole host of people who would have happily paid that much for one but were turned away, you have to suspect that the next solo show (which i would imagine being in the first half of next year) the prices will have at least doubled. That makes any of his original work very expensive and very desirable. There is no one quite like Adam at the moment, to think i passed up on a gallery original for ยฃ10,000!! oh what a t**t i am!!

Nah for me it would have to be a 3D piece
I think the set of three would be a good buy at about 2.5k each. The 10-15k estimate is rather high at the moment, but in the future that amount may end up being a snip

2x Adam Neate canvases on Ebay , by grinch on Aug 10, 2007 15:15:12 GMT 1, These are one hundred percent authentic, they were mine? One was the twin towers of London, the other, portrait, was meant to be a quick sale to a fellow who mailed me earlier that day. The paintings came from a show we had in our gallery, 88b gallery below Cide skate shop, I still know people who have pieces from this show and am trying to get a hold of them. If you need more info on this please give me a mail on greggfinch@yahoo.com. I have a picture from the show if anyoneโs interested.
