STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by johnnyh on Feb 13, 2012 1:26:45 GMT 1, Estatebuyermia.
Thanks for the warning but Are you sure as I think over the last year or so this is the third listing of this aqusation. Now sure something dodgy happened but if agreed stolen why is it for sale and the seller not arrested.
Seems to be a legal dispute rather than theft. Not sure.
Estatebuyermia.

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by estatebuyersmia on Feb 13, 2012 1:39:07 GMT 1, Obviously the individual has not been able to sell the item. I SPOKE TO RETNA AND HE HAD CONFIRMED THAT THIS PIECE INDEED WAS ILLEGALLY OBTAINED. HE FURTHER EXPLAINED HE HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS PIECE BACK FOR MONTHS.

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by johnnyh on Feb 13, 2012 1:51:21 GMT 1, Well yeh so it's a legal dispute. Otherwise as mentioned why not arrested. So understand your trying to upset the the sale with believed to be stolen But if you know Retna why has that now changed to illegally obtained.
As I remember and do not know if it was you. That a gallery sent somewhere and it was said did not arrive or something. Just curious as to why still going on if it's one way or another?
Eg any chance of what the real status is here

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by estatebuyersmia on Feb 13, 2012 2:24:11 GMT 1, In order for someone to be arrested their whereabouts has to be known. Yes it was a legal dispute. The person claimed he/ she never received the item and got their money back. Someone owns this piece and is trying to sell it. It belongs to the artist because the sale was never consummated. I assure you that Retna told me he has been trying to locate this item for months.

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by johnnyh on Feb 13, 2012 6:02:29 GMT 1, Yes but it cannot be hard to locate as for example you could just buy it if its for sale. Then see him to exchange the cash
It sounds like to me and I could be wrong. That the gallery did not pay Retna for the piece that they lost. Regardless of how they lost it. As the last thread was all about the gallery and now it is about Retna. Not sure your involvement in all of this.
Blacklots for example have all his contact details and yet the piece is not withdrawn as he must have a contract with them.
Sorry not being funny here but this is all a bit strange

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by estatebuyersmia on Feb 13, 2012 7:25:02 GMT 1, No not strange, Retna and the gallery owner are friends. I am sure they worked something out. The current owner has no right to sell this piece and should return it to the gallery. They never paid for the item. Backlots was contacted on Saturday by me and I am sure they will respond on Monday. I also contacted Retna and New Image Art and I am sure one of us will be successful halting this sale !

STOLEN RETNA COMING UP FOR AUCTION, by iamzero on Feb 15, 2012 22:16:09 GMT 1, So if a delivery company delivers something to me by mistake and I take reciept of it then does that mean I have obtained that item illegally? Surely if I don't want that item and no one has contacted me to collect then I could sell it? Maybe that happened?
I know from past experience that if a company delivers me the incorrect item I ordered and then doesn't collect that item within a specific time then I legally own the item.
