minor damage to og advice needed, by jswo on Feb 21, 2012 18:54:26 GMT 1, hi all,
i recently purchased a new piece of art send from the US and it was suppose to be float mounted but it came dislodged from the backboard so it moved around in the frame during delivery. i took it to a framers to get re-floated and when i took it home i found one corner had some edge damage - i inspected this at the framers and this wasn't there when i handed it over. JI took it down and they are adamant it wasn't them - Q1. where do i stand in this situation, never happened before? They have offered to put it in a cold press and hopefully if will come out. this is an og on thick paper with alot of biro detail, worth a bit, Q2. could it get damaged further in this cold press process?
Q3. another sore point is that the frame it came in is scratched from the gallery where it has been stacked behind another frame, if buying artwork from gallery framed shouldn't this also arrive mint unless they say?
thanks for any feedback!

minor damage to og advice needed, by pidge on Feb 21, 2012 19:09:35 GMT 1, Firstly get a new framer!! What a mess. I would take it to a professional to get it put straight and then send them the bill. If you can't trust them to frame it which is their craft I probably wouldn't risk letting them try to put it right......paper restoration is tricky business and you only relly get one shot, if its an OG I personally wouldn't take the risk.
