Prints and smoking, by jonti on Jan 23, 2012 22:05:04 GMT 1, i understand the reasons for all of them except the speakers one. why no speakers ? Its the velocity standing waves, if too close it can loosen the ink on the print, which will over time, fall off
If this was a hifi forum, they would be berating the fact that framed print was affecting the velocity standing waves and negating the improvements made by laying their speaker cable on halved squash balls 2.79cm from the wall

Prints and smoking, by zzz on Jan 23, 2012 22:09:47 GMT 1, I guess if it comes down to it and the print gets ruined I can get rid of it to whoever on here was looking for Banksy prints to cut up to include in art he was making.
Seems like they will just be hung and whatever happens, happens. I was lucky enough to get the NBG from source so I won't feel as bad as if I had to buy it second hand for an inflated price.

Prints and smoking, by maumau93 on Jan 23, 2012 23:32:24 GMT 1, its not going to get ruined to that extent if its framed unless it gets wet... even then its still the same image just with a couple of waves in it...

Prints and smoking, by mouser on Jan 23, 2012 23:42:49 GMT 1, Whilst we are on the subject of framing for hostile conditions, anyone got any advice for framing a piece for a bathroom?
Our loo is a bit bare and would like something up in it, but get the heebies thinking about a print going mouldy etc. It doesnt get too steamy in there, no damp issues etc, but wonder how a framed piece would react to being placed in that environment?
i have a couple of framed invasion kits in there at the mo, but would like something bigger, would a canvas be a better option as it'd be able to "breathe" rather than a print closed up in a frame?
Any advice welcome,
( neither of us smoke on the crapper, so smoke damage isnt an issue )

if its just a toilet and a sink you should be fine... maybe if there is a shower or a bath i would have second thoughts...

I asked my framer about this a while ago, she said as long as the pieces were properly framed (which means no Ikea frames), and you run a fan or open a window after showering, they would be fine. A couple years later, I've got art in my loo and none look the worse for it.
