WTB: JR prints, by sakyamuni on Feb 22, 2012 12:37:54 GMT 1, JR's official webshop is here, prices are quite high but this is the new trend... www.social-animals.net/ Otherwise studiocromie still has some left, although Mariano appear sold out now, and you can find some on Outsiders website. There is a new one coming out soon too (on social-animals i think).

WTB: JR prints, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2012 6:16:33 GMT 1, Thanks for the heads-up on studiocromie.
To me, that JR self-portrait--clearly intense in the glassy eye of his subject, is about as tight and clear an expose of an artist and his work as I've found.
That image has gripped me since I first saw it online...and may do moreso in the old casa.
Also, just saw the TED video...a true artist IMHO; big heart, big ideas, energetic follow-through.
400 Euro...I've spent as much on stupider things.

WTB: JR prints, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2012 15:10:14 GMT 1, VERY angry and disappointed...
Just got an email from Angelo at Studio Cromie--hours after paying, receiving their receipt, PayPal invoice, etc.,--that the JR Self-Portrait I ordered and paid for is actually Sold Out.
Offered to sell me the Froisse print at an additional 50 EUR. I can't afford the extra cash--and to my mind that is nowhere near the print the original JR Self-Portrait is.
Call bulls#!t on that...but nothing I can do.
There. Feel a bit better. Now can go to sleep.

i agree with you about the self portrait. i remember when i first saw it on his website that it would make a brilliant print. about a year later up it popped.
now i just need to cart it off to MFM with the 9 odd other pieces i need to frame after i win the lottery.

The 'Self Portrait' was marked as sold out for months, just noticed that you can add it to your basket again. Is that some sort of dodgy effort to get people to buy the 'Froisse' print?

WTB: JR prints, by boatyyy on Feb 23, 2012 15:39:22 GMT 1, Don't fret. I have this JR print - and happy to gift it to you. Not sure where you are, so will have to pick it up in NYC, as it is framed. Not about for a while, but can have a sibling or buddy arrange for you to pick up.
one of my favorite poems I shared with a forum member some time back, when seemingly going thru a rough patch...
โThere is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to outcarol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great painโฆ Or so says the legend.โ - Colleen McCullough

boatyyy...are you a person or an angel? Not so long ago you gave away all sorts of good things.
Thank you so much...yes, I would love that.
Let me know what I can do for you.
And also, thanks for the CM passage. Helpful to me at this moment in a number of ways.

WTB: JR prints, by Deleted on Feb 28, 2012 2:10:32 GMT 1, Just want to say Thanks all for your concern and offers and help here. Some good people on this forum
(In Angelo's defense, he refunded my PayPal at once.)
Looks like I'm on the receiving end of some spectacular and pretty much unwarranted generosity--from a member half the world away.
Thankful beyond words...and indebted to some NYC friends for help with logistics.
Peace and Goodness out.

WTB: JR prints, by Deleted on Mar 21, 2012 8:28:22 GMT 1, Very glad for you Japandemic !! A very nice gift from Boaty !!
Self-portrait was the second prints I bought. Sadly, the framer totally f*cked up my print (paper tore at corner, nails marks, etc.) but still looks good framed.
Agree a bit about Studiocromie strange behavior, framer agreed to purchase another one, but was told not available anymore... then months after, guys from this forum managed to buy some from source I was bit disappointed to tell you the thruth.
