WTB JR ORIGINAL, by jB on Jan 27, 2012 18:19:40 GMT 1, As the title states, I would like to purchase an Original JR work, preferably on wood, but would consider other mediums as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best, JB

That's right in line with what I would be interested in. Very nice M, are you sure you don't want to sell it?

WTB JR ORIGINAL, by mustard on Jan 27, 2012 22:28:45 GMT 1, thanks! absolutely not for sale but I'll keep an eye out for you. I got those bottles from a kid living on the streets of New Orleans about 6 years ago. All the bars would toss out their bottles and he would grab them clean them up and paint on them, he was sitting on the street selling them when I walked by and bought a few.

There are a bunch from his last show here: www.perrotin.com/exhibitions/past-other_exhibitions.html#
I got a price list a few weeks ago and most of the show was still available including what I thought was the best piece in the show. Unfortunately, the prices were unbelievably high which probably explains the last sentence. I was somewhat shocked to be honest. It was a massive file (maybe 40 or 50 pages) and I can seem to find it so i can't offer to send but you can check in with them as they had lots of work on wood. good luck

The Street work is for the masses or "us", no ? The expensive artwork funds the street projects and is for relatively wealthy people to buy in swanky Parisian Galleries. I'm sure everyone concerned would rather sell one piece at 50k than 50 pieces at 1k. His work was available for a good while in the lower thousands. Guess we have to make do with prints and the streets. Good enough for me.

WTB JR ORIGINAL, by Simococo on Jan 29, 2012 10:31:28 GMT 1, His work on the street looks incredible but I've only had the good fortune of seeing it in London while he was doing his Laz show. I was really replying to Lee's point about how much of his work went unsold and how much of this is down to his stratospheric pricing. Fair enough he needs this money to fund the street work but he's also a gallery artist and so it would be better to look at pricing it in line with its value? Selling 20 pieces at 10k is better than selling 1 at 50k?

True, true.. was thrown off by the "masses" comment, sorry. But agree, prices are very very high for large works. Maybe time for a series of smaller originals. I'd be in the queue for sure.
