Fake KAWS on Ebay - Warning, by Happy Shopper on Feb 8, 2012 17:53:58 GMT 1, Not sure how many here also use Kidrobot forums (I know a few do), but thought it would be worth warning people here...
After years of fairly obvious fake Kaws toys on ebay there are now some very good ones!!
First came Stormtroopers WITH BOXES ! Only obvious difference is one logo on the box missing and the colour of the troopers details on the actual figure.
Now there are OG Dissected Companions complete with boxes !!
The warning sign was that so many hit ebay recently with cheap "Buy it now" prices.
People are still fairly uncertain of how you tell the difference, but it seems to be a detail in the Eye on the box missing (and slightly smaller box)... and perhaps the feet are too close together!! Colour and shape of the skull are also in question. They just don't look quite right! 
So... Heads up !

Too hard to tell the fakes, almost impossible.

For sure. I was half joking. I've been looking at these for a while. I like them not sure what I would do with them if I bought them. They are too expensive for me to pull them out of the box so not really worth it.
I would buy a fake if they were around $50. but for $800+ it is tough for me to pull the trigger even if it is 100% real.
But really thanks for posting this. We need more sharing of info on fake and stolen stuff.

Thanks for posting this as I think about now many people not sure good offer on ebay or to good to be true so think really good thing for thread you have done.
It is alot of money and hopefully people see your thread here so they can back off from getting something that is fake rather than unique.

I mean, it happened few years ago that bunch of Chums showed up from a forgotten storage, or something like that... also, there were cases of dissecteds with such faults as 2 same arms, so that says a thing or two about their quality control... Im not sure if these ones are fakes, or 2nd runs, or something third..
also, Kaws releases were never 100% clear on the editions, so maybe this is a way of bumping edition of 500 to 1000?!.. anyways, I have a hard time believing fakes would be so spotless, including box too being almost PERFECT, and having all the holo stickers and all..
but than again, this is nothing more but my personal opinion which can be TOTALLY wrong...
definitely take extra care when buying one of these ..

They all have to be bootlegs. The give away for me is the whiteness, and general look of the gloves. This sucks! Even more so for the people that are gonna spend there hard earned dollars on them, They are also messing up the market for the rest of us that own the legitimate versions. A lot of the people that end up buying these will never know they are fakes either. Maybe time to sell mine and get a wooden companion or sorayama ?

I was in Schenzen China around 2001, and they made a lot of shoes there for legitamate companies like Coach etc. There was a huge market for knock-offs, and some were obvious bootlegs, but others were practically identical to the real thing most likely made the same place the originals were. Never underestimate the quality of bootlegs especially as counterfeiters get more and more sophisticated.

I've read an good article on Chinese fake products, especialy shoes and it said that most of the shoes (mostly Nike and Puma) were original products with only a missing serial number. this happens, cause they were produced in the same factory as the originals after the official working hours. Big mafia business. so beware of fake/originals

Luckly I dealt with this guy in the past and he took care of it immediately. All the fakes arent dead on either they are slightly smaller or coloring is off and apllied very poorly. OGs are dead on with the lines.
I can help anyone with purchasing. Drop me a PM with all the info and I will help steer you in the right direction
