Ebay question, by Deleted on Aug 24, 2007 12:48:51 GMT 1, it will show on the .com site if you list it on .co.uk, but i think it would be better for you to list it on .com as your lsiting would only appear at the bottum of the page and so may get missed by some.

Ebay question, by Daniel Silk on Aug 24, 2007 13:56:17 GMT 1, I remember seeing a piece about this on TV about a month back Ebay had changed its policy, so if you wanted listed on the .com (US) site you needed to open another account loads of antique dealers in the UK were moaning coz most of the trade was from the US, and they did not want to pay twice for listing the item to UK and US buyers.

Ebay question, by pezlow on Aug 24, 2007 14:03:37 GMT 1, That's ridiculous. I thought the whole point of ebay was that it was a global marketplace. Ebay have come a long way from their rather idealistic beginnings and now seem to want to bleed every last penny/or cent/or euro from their users.

Ebay as a concept was wonderful in the beginning, and 'idealistic' was the best way to describe them. Then growth and being a public traded company eclipsed anything good the company stood for and they have been on a downward slide since.
I find it comical that they consistently choose to reface a failing site, plus hike fees and overcharge everyone that has stayed with them just to keep their earnings up on paper... forget the fact thousands of people are bailing every day because they cannot take things being so bad anymore. The fall is now unsurmountable, and even having the market share they did will not help them in the end. Ebay had the opportunity for stellar continued growth and flat out ignored problems like email spoofing and allowing stolen goods to be sold on their site, and turning a blind eye to shilling (even creating a new system to allow false bidding to get even worse!) Apparently they thought their growth would sustain regardless of how bad they allowed safety and customer service to be... too big for their britches as my mother would say. If they weren't screwing their members and not protecting against this stuff, their growth would have been there and they wouldn't have to continue to look for ways to bleed their customers to compensate for their awful business tactics. Ebay sucks, and with any luck, someone will come along and do online auctions bigger, better, and safer sometime soon. Rant over!
