The AP looks a good deal on there too. You have to be quick with HipArt as they change their prices to suit the market, not that there's owt wrong with that.

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by jam on Aug 25, 2007 9:12:23 GMT 1, I just don't care for the AP, the wax seal puts me off for some reason. I think the Dinars is far and above better than the other versions... it looks 'crisper' to me, and the texture of the Dinar paper with the paint is mint.

Do the Hip Art gallery trade on ebay under the name of the guvnors yard or something like that also?
I was happy to get shot of my SBFO for £500 as i dont think the image would age well and due to the fact i thought it was crap. The 40 edition however is much superior IMO than the 125.

I am happy to get some of the general stuff that appeals to most to pass on on the rare occaision (just like Mr Ratner used to) as this then enables me to get the stuff i like and want which would otherwise have been out of my reach. You have nae seen any of my mantis, eine prints or even my morons up for sale have you?

Careful snakes, next we'll have you saying that the prints you do decide to sell on are "total cr*p".

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by Strange Al on Aug 25, 2007 10:48:15 GMT 1, Careful snakes, next we'll have you saying that the prints you do decide to sell on are "total cr*p". Well i do believe that the SBFO is total (not the petrol station) crap, and although the DFACE 'what wars are for' was a great image the overall quality and layout of the print was pretty crap. Thats my honest oppinion, so feel free to crucify me if you disagree. Then again lots think mantis afd is poop, but i absolutely love it andthe same go's for evolution.
Wasn't looking to crucify you - I was just alluding to your Ratner's reference.

Oh, i know all about Ratners reference as at the time i worked for a jewelery manufacturer in Hatton Garden who also happened to be his largest supplier.
Needless to say it didnt do much for their business!

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by Strange Al on Aug 25, 2007 11:17:01 GMT 1, Yep, that one misplaced comment pretty much caused the collapse of the Ratners chain. You've got to feel for Gerald Ratner - doubt he now thinks honesty is always the best policy.
I'm all for people expressing a dissenting opinion on the art discussed here, which is often difficult as many of the artists in question read the board. Obviously constructive criticism is preferred, but a bit of dissent can at least spur discussion.

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by neutral on Aug 25, 2007 11:57:13 GMT 1, Crikey £1850 at the moment with 4 days to go. There was one in the states for £1500 that was on there for a few days but that sold yesterday too. I have my reserve on that one. The bidder 6 has 0 feedback as well as less than a week old account with ebay. Smell dodgy to me. Yet the majority seems to think it is a genuine auction since the other one has been snapped in a panic for £1500 while lasting 6 days without any interest. A classic example of Ebay non sense to me. I could also be wrong of course...

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by snakes on Aug 25, 2007 11:59:34 GMT 1, You never know it could be a sales conspiracy going on...
Say a person or a collective have a number of ebay accounts, and maybe a couple of prints that they want to punt out.
They set up a fake auctions and make the prices sky rocket. One of your fake accounts wins the auction at say at £2222 for the Beejoir SBFO (just a hypothetical example). This seller has now got the markets attention (thanks to the likes of this forum) and although he will have to make a slight loss on ebay fees for the sale of that item he now puts it up for sale again in another bogus account.
The likelyhood if he were to either put a BIN price of £1800 he is likely now to get his hand bitten off by numerous people thinking they got a bargain, bearing in mind that they saw a sale earlier that went for £2222, but is also just as likely to get a better price than he would have at standard auction.
Unfortunately this type of fraudulent activity has no doubt taken off since the morons release whereby sellers are now reluctant to display the numbers of their prints and by them not displaying print numbers you never know the prints history until you are the buyer!

Of course correct me if Im wrong???

Iraq Dinars on ebay..., by Sarnie on Aug 25, 2007 12:20:40 GMT 1, Just to clarify........
I am the ebay seller and this is a genuine auction (unfortunately ran into some serious cash flow probs as purchasing my first properrty)
I was also dubious of this highest bidder (only saw the bid this morning) given their zero feedback and recent joining of ebay. I have absolutely no association with this bidder.
However this is a genuine auction and a brilliant print which in my opinion will only be worth a lot more in the months to come
Hope this helps you all
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this

No need to justify Sarnie. It was an observation as I watched both prints for a while. Look forward to see where things will go from there... Best of luck with your auction and hope your cash flow will be better after that.
