Phlegm Comics - request for advice

Hi all, 

I have issues 1,2,3 & 5 of the original Phlegm comics series. I'm just looking for some advice really on what they might be worth (I'd be looking to sell if it seems like they're worth something, I need to raise some money for my art masters degree!) They are in near mint condition, originally bought from 'News from Nowhere' in Liverpool  (they still have the original price label attached, I dare not to remove these a this will likely cause damage).

Condition: Two small dog ears (top left, bottom right), crease bottom left ~3" (PHOTO). From what I understand this was common with these (and the left edge was not cut super straight). All will frame out to the image.

200? How the hell am I supposed to make a profit when he doubles the run size, increases the price, decreases the size of the print and uses a worse image? Won't someone please think of the flippers?

Well this took a while. It's been an embarrassingly long time since i last did a newsletter. I painted a lot of walls became a hermit grew a big beard and almost ran away to live in the woods. I just didn't find enough studio time to make anything i really felt pushed my work forwards. I'm not a fan of selling work just for the sake of it. I have to be passionate and excited about what I'm making. That in my opinion is the only thing that can give art any real value at all.

So, I've expanded my studio and over the past year and I've managed to make some huge progress with my etching and engraving. In fact, this side of my work has just opened up in front of me lately. It's made me feel like every drawing I've ever done is just a rough sketch. So it's time for me to get busy building a good body of print work as an engraver and printmaker. I've been threatening to do it for the past two or three years so i guess it's about time.

This is the first print i've worked on since I've been developing different ways of drawing into the copper plate. Without getting too nerdy i'm partially engraving the line work as well as etching it. This results in a finer detail and also a more varied depth of line work.

This print is a copper plate etching i've called 'Tributary' printed with black Gamblin etching ink on 300gsm somerset satin white mould made paper. Edition of 200. The plate size is 29.5 by 25cm and has a 3cm torn edge border. Its signed, named, numbered and embossed with my monogram.

Its packed with detail and its a clean print with minimal plate tone. Just as a note for people used to buying more commercial prints and posters. This is a printing technique unchanged since early in the 16th century. Each print is hand inked and then delicately wiped back with cloths until just the image is left on the plate. Its then pushed through a heavy press and the image is embossed from the plate to the paper. It's a beautiful process that produces results closer to an original drawing than to a print. This also means every print has small individual plate marks. I'm a meticulous printmaker so no prints have any marks that interfere with the image quality itself at all.'
