Have you not noticed how lifeless this scene is? This is getting attention because who wants to talk about Eelus's latest print? Having said that take out all the meaningless 'this is nice', 'where is it' posts and you get closer to a true length of thread.

I would be pretty sure that there is a meaning to the piece just not known yet.
Just because it does not have a slogan does not mean its meaning less.
It needs to play out yet for a while

Deputy why do you believe the scene is lifeless though. Surely it cannot be that lifeless as you spend a lot of time on here critiqueing it.
There is plenty going more now than ever. Now due to its growth you do get more of all levels of stuff but not sure lifeless is correct.
So may be rather than asking for a comment on your critique you should explain the above and your comment.

Rogermiller love the Crane story. It's amazing at the Hiroshima peace monument when you see the streams of Parker cranes that are 1000 long.

I'm not sure what exactly you're critiquing here? The piece, the scene, or the forum. Or all three?
The piece is aesthetically attractive and I admire it's placement, but in this case I think it's a piece that's made better by the location shot...not so much the work itself. Others might draw deeper meaning from its content, but for me it's a nice (if throwaway) piece. He's done better, no doubt.
But like jonnyh says, the scene's not lifeless at all. It might be sometimes lacking in depth, but so what? There's still plenty of gems out there, most recently for me has been Dolk's work.
You might find mundane some of the posts on the forum, and you do often bring up some interesting criticisms....but I'm sorry I just don't get all the negativity. It just gets to be a real drag after a while.

Meaningless may be..........but I bet it brings a smile to everyone who passes it and I bet they enjoy it...........that makes this alovely piece of art in my book

This is really nice. You can imagine anyone looking at that and having a positive reaction to it - aesthetically its beautiful. I don't care who it is by, or whether it will result in 500 prints in multiple colourways with deckled edges, its beautiful simplicity on that wall, next to that canal is all that matters.
