21st CL on ebay, by samanthamcmaster on Aug 30, 2007 16:25:57 GMT 1, Was anyone watching the 21st Cl on ebay? Tortoise was the seller. It got to ยฃ8,100 last time i looked and was near it's end. It's been removed now. Any thoughts? An offer too good to be missed or seller wanting more than it got to?

21st CL on ebay, by mp on Aug 30, 2007 16:55:37 GMT 1, I gotta say, I'm kind of annoyed with so many auctions getting pulled at the last minute. I keep trying to buy a signed Banksy and then out of nowhere, they are gone once they hit their last day.

It's the nature of the beast, sellers don't want to pay the ebay fees, buyers want to make sure they get the print... so a deal is done

21st CL on ebay, by jp on Aug 31, 2007 9:37:49 GMT 1, Oh man I feel really bad for the person who gets this print. It has a very long and bad story behind it.
I bought this print from Opus Art back in January and it was an absolute nightmare of a transaction (worst buying experience in my entire life). First, it arrived damaged, with a puncture directly through the left wing (I have photos). On top of that, it is dry mounted to foamcore, which makes restoration more difficult. My framer took a look and called in a conservation specialist, who gave me a detailed report. I hadn't noticed the yellowish corners, which, according to the specialist, were probably from a previous frame job. So I was sold a used, dry-mounted print, that arrived damaged. So yeah, this print has serious issues and none of this is disclosed in the description.
There was also a lot of political BS that I went through trying to get this print back to the UK, and in the end my credit card company went to bat and refunded all of my money. It was then held up in customs for several months (and was almost abandoned!), only to finally appear on ebay
This print really should have been destroyed. I would have never said any of this publicly but I don't want anyone else to get burned by this and go through what I went through.

Good to hear that Opus has been a nightmare here too. Cant beleive a gallery will sell something like that, receive it back then resell it again ! Great customer care !

21st CL on ebay, by Harveyn on Aug 31, 2007 20:33:47 GMT 1, Mike Did you hear anything back from the seller?
This has reached ยฃ6600 and if it is damaged to the extent describe there must be some way of reporting it to ebay. Dry mounted is bad enough but with fade around the edges and a hole (none have been detailed in the auction) this is going to be a disastrous purchase for someone.
This is appalling .....if true
