Gold Ornate Frames, by thwaites on Sept 1, 2007 21:01:35 GMT 1, no prob, I bought a couple a little while ago and they are really good value! I spray painted mine black and have been meaning to frame my angel bomber in it, just haven't got round to it yet.
Here's how it will look tho:
really want to get this up!

Gold Ornate Frames, by thwaites on Sept 1, 2007 21:20:42 GMT 1, what print do you want it for?
For that I just used car spray paint from Halfords, although lately ive been getting some stuff from B&Q. Either works fine, but make sure to prime it first!
Not bad for ยฃ8!

Gold Ornate Frames, by spirit on Sept 1, 2007 21:27:48 GMT 1, Eine's Circus - think it will look stunning with the gloss black ornate frame matching the gloss black background of the print and the ornate letters. I don't want a mount but I may need something to mask the white paper edges on the print as I think they will show.
Did you paint the primer on with a brush straight on top of the gold or did find some spray primer - and please don't tell me you sanded it down first! - top job - looks class.

Great frame job. What does priming mean though?

Gold Ornate Frames, by spirit on Sept 1, 2007 21:41:21 GMT 1, priming means preparing a surface by painting on a primer first coat which basically makes sure the paint top coat sticks. I think.

Gold Ornate Frames, by thwaites on Sept 1, 2007 21:43:59 GMT 1, circus will look ace in it! Thats one print ive wanted for a while. Nice choice.
You can buy primer spraypaint, from either halfords or B&Q and you just need to do a few coats of that first, let it dry and the spray over the top. And no I didnt sand it, far too much work!
Its one of my best bargain frames

I did, but Charles whatisname was away. Looked around quite a few others and there were some very good deals. Great tip, though Thwaites. Cheers.

Not a prob. You should try and go back when he is there cause he has some right gems. Only problem is they are shoved in these lockers and he has to get them all out to show you. Bit of a pain but its worth it when you find the perfect one.
Btw if anyone is looking for an ornate style frame in 18" x 24" pm me as I have a bunch that aren't too expensive.

Gold Ornate Frames, by Monkey on Apr 18, 2008 15:59:54 GMT 1, As the title suggests ive got a large swept frame thats going spare. Not got any prints in the framing que that are quite right for it. Paid quite a bit for it but will prob offer a good deal to a fellow forum member that i like. Obviously that will exclude Lampsey/Fatherxmas. Dont mean to sound bitchy but he gets right under my skin.
Overall size of the frame is : 47 x 35" Width of frame : 5.5"
Reason ive offered it up here as i know many members have struggled to source decent swept frames and this ones a cracker.
If your interested pm me and ill email you some pics.
Cheers, Monkey... ;D
