Cartrain 🇬🇧 Tate Gallery • Damien Hirst • Gilbert & George, by joeschmo on Oct 26, 2010 23:08:05 GMT 1, I think you'll find you don't. actually joe, I met him before he was "famous" and know people who knew him in bristol who confirmed his name when it was less of a closely guarded secret and the daily mail article definately was correct about the picture of him being him, based on my meeting him at a graff jam where I saw him spraying a stencil, I would therefore say the naming of him in the newspaper was correct in getting their guy. So in actual fact I think you'll find I do.
I'd say you were correct about knowing his name 2 years ago, but unless you've been hanging out with him lately you probably don't know his name anymore, well, since its been changed and all.

Respect your buyers a bit more.

Well said...
Cartain, this is a bad move - there would be better ways to go about raising cash.

I fully understand that as an "artist" that flogging off unsold items on the cheap is a good way to get some quick cash but i'd have thought a little more discretion would have been better.
After all this forum is home to probably home to 100% of people who've bought your work, so the initial offer does devalue their purchases and the joke above does make it look that it's all a bit trivial.
I'd love to hear from the people on the forum who had been discussing Cartrain's work as investment worthy.

An A3 photo of a pile of rubbish.? sorry what?. any of you could take this?. and a Canvas that has nothing other than a stencil from the internet and some lines sprayed for no apparent reason, If anyone actually think these are good then there is something wrong here.

Im not a hater by any means, i just really dont understand how you manage to sell anything, think this whole scene is messed up more than i thought, least with Brainwash you get something that looks good, these take no artistic merit to produce at all,
Explain to me what is actually good about either of these pieces of work and maybe ill change my mind , always open minded me,

This is a forum on which every single sale of a banksy print gets noticed - whenever anyone tries to sell a print noone is happy to pay more than the last one sold for. I suggest that by selling, or trying to, these works for such a cheap price then it sets a going rate.
I like to think that I spread my posts pretty evenly around this place, so don't feel victimised!
On a more art related note how is the photograph printed? I have a few of my photos that i have printed to similar sizes (and have had them on canvas in the past too) and have had a few that have faded pretty badly. Who printed this and what type of print is it? I'd like to know who other people use.

Cartrain 🇬🇧 Tate Gallery • Damien Hirst • Gilbert & George, by hlarmy on Nov 2, 2010 14:11:10 GMT 1, In Cartrain’s defence, what I will say is that I have bought one of his photos in the past and can confirm that I wasn’t disappointed with the quality or the image.
However, I paid quite a bit more than £60 for it and can’t help to feel a little pissed off that you’ve since dropped the price quite significantly. I also believe there are people out there who have previously paid up to a grand for on one of these canvasses, and now you’re trying to flog the remainder in the series at a huge price reduction.
Although I appreciate you can and will do whatever you want Cartrain, I do feel there is a certain etiquette an artist should follow, led by principles that should ultimately respect his / her collector base; it feels like you’re taking the piss out of us Cartrain. You're also playing a dangerous game as dropping the sales price like this now sets a new benchmark which future releases will be based on...
I won’t comment on the quality of your work, as it’s subjective, but I do think you’ve made a big mistake here. I’m also disappointed in the way you’ve ignored my emails since purchase. If I were Duncan Ballantyne, you can guess what I would be saying at this stage…

Cartrain 🇬🇧 Tate Gallery • Damien Hirst • Gilbert & George, by Deleted on Nov 2, 2010 14:15:39 GMT 1, Are you seriously expecting this photo and canvas to be worth £20k this time next year? Before it's too late..?? too late for what? Sorry if I also come across as a hater but I cannot see any effort, thought, merit or what have you that has gone into these pieces. Anyone could have knocked these up. I thought this forum was to allow people to express their thoughts and opinions. You can't just accept the back slapping when you receive a new milkmans note from Banksy and not take the criticism when somebody dares to point out your failings.
