Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Deleted on Dec 7, 2008 13:15:56 GMT 1, Yes it would be nice to get a definitive answer wouldn't it although I'm not too sure how that can be done, one anonymous person online says one thing another anonymous person says something different. My problem with believing cartrain this time around is that I'm pretty sure I remember him saying he was in his early 20's himself from back when I was lurking. Also the way he "broke" this story here with the implications that Hirst was buying the work for his collection just makes me doubt the rest of the story. Once again i find myself having to state that i have not in any way misinformed tricked or coned anyone over the Hirst story or over my age.
blah blah........................

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by digitalkid on Dec 7, 2008 13:17:18 GMT 1, I grant, I would like once and for all to put Cartrains actual age to bed. I had always assumed he was some some ancient retiree in really great shape since his myspace page said he's 101 years old! But honestly, I brought up 2007 articles that list him as 15, and then 2008 articles that list in as 16. If so he's pretty prodigious. I'm inclined to believe Cartrain on this one - only because if you are lying about your age at this point and any of us prove it, oh man have you shot yourself badly in the foot because I'll join in the savaging. If you're liable to lie about your age, you're liable to lie about other numbers like edition numbers! So yes, there is a difference between 16 and 22, the more I think of it, the more I'll grant that. I think my central is that, age aside, I just don't see why Cartrain still gets the Hutch treatment on this site when both I have to give props to for being active street artists and both have a couple of pieces I like. (I really don't know how to describe it exactly except as "the Hutch" treatment) But frankly, from the stories I brought up on google, they pretty consistently cite Cartrain as the age he says he is. Who else can vouch for you Cartrain? If you are 16, between the Hirst incident and the fact that I now know we may be witnessing an emerging artists' really really early work, you may have picked up more of a fan in me.
Come on Cartrain set the record straight for once. The post by raiden is willing you to do the right thing, come on!!

You may be able too say you didn't misinform, trick or con anyone but your original post was deliberately ambiguous and written in such a way as to imply Hirst was buying your work which is in fact the complete opposite of what happened.

Do you have multiple accounts on here? As your first post on here you gives the impression you have been on the forum well past your best before date, it would seem that you like to make accusations without being in the possession of anything to back it up with. i can see we are going to get into a bun fight over issues that are more to do with your weak speculations than anything informative. Your posts are riddles with contradictions throughout. do you pray like this?

As I've said before I read this place for quite a while before I signed up and I just reread my first post and don't get your point. Do you really think only members of this forum have any knowledge or understanding of the art market ?
Accusations, plural, I've said I don't believe you're 16 based on having read something by you or someone who knows you on here saying you're in your 20's and I'm not the only one that thinks that. What are all the other unsubstantiated accusations ? or are you just exaggerating for effect ?
Don't get your riddles with contradictions remark either maybe you could show an example.

They ?
I'm an individual making a point maybe you'd like to make your point now.
As I've already stated there's a big difference in being a 16 year old lad and an adult in their 20's pretending to be an adult particularly when that is the main thrust of the report in the press.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by graeme501 on Dec 12, 2008 23:37:04 GMT 1, the thing that frustraits me most about cartain is his unwillingness to explain the meaning behind any of his collages or sculptures, it would be nice to hear from him what they are about, have asked a good view times, but have been ignored, so ill try again
the other thing that annoys me is that all his publicity comes off the back of other artists, whether it being tagging banksys work and banksy giving him a canvas, or hirst sueing him, when u let his work stand alone it is very very poor

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by andrewd on Dec 12, 2008 23:54:41 GMT 1, There are plenty of artists who don't explain their work There are artists who openly admit that the 'Banksy' effect has massively affected their careers. There are a lot of very poor artists pretendingf to be street artists. I am not a Cartrain fan but simply think, if you like it you like it, if you don't you don't. Hero worship and pure hate have no part in art appreciation.

I dont think there is a meaning for it G. Its just a collection of random magazine cuttings traced over and coloured in, under the premise of having some hidden depth of meaning. When in reality, it is the opposite.
Strange that this thread popped back up the board as a new print gets released.....

Seeing as everybody has been after an explanation for quite some time i will explain these three only for now...
The first one is the new world order train and George bush is about to drive over batman and robin killing off all hero's Cheri has seen what hes up to so shes bought tony a train set.
The second one that face i use is the face of the new world order and hes holding an oyster card machine.
And the third one is George bush about to blast off to button moon.
Every collage i do tells a story

You surprise me only in your ability to be consistently predictable with your responses. If you think that i would really give the under lying meaning of the work up so readily in order that you can hit back you are still as predictable as with other post you have made Yes the superficially meaning was as i have said but there is a deeper meaning it works on two levels, I suggest you read Jung Freud etc
