Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by spencerlee on Dec 13, 2008 19:54:33 GMT 1, i see cartain is online, any chance of an answer? Seeing as everybody has been after an explanation for quite some time i will explain these three only for now... The first one is the new world order train and George bush is about to drive over batman and robin killing off all hero's Cheri has seen what hes up to so shes bought tony a train set. The second one that face i use is the face of the new world order and hes holding an oyster card machine. And the third one is George bush about to blast off to button moon. Every collage i do tells a story flickr.com/photos/bixentro/2133331396/flickr.com/photos/unusual_image/2401137567/flickr.com/photos/alcattell/1356271120/
These are descriptions, not explanations of your work. Don't worry, I won't ask for for explanations, or interpretations of your pieces. I am sure this would only elicit another response citing Jung, Freud et al that further muddies the water whilst trying to sound knowing and enigmatic....and I am really not that interested.
Good PR on the Hirst story though.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by slowmo on Dec 13, 2008 20:20:21 GMT 1, Actually, the thinking behind Cherie Blair buying Tony Blair a train set because Bush is using his own to destroy all hero's is at least thought provoking. I'm staying out of all this, but that seems to have more thought given to it when he gives description than I would have otherwise seen.
While the content is quite a tired subject, the collage positioning now at least seems far less random and thoughtless. You asked him to explain some of his work and he did.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by bmjt on Dec 13, 2008 21:46:13 GMT 1, Ha, nice one Mr C, I have actually read work from both the psychoanalysts of which you speak, I'd be interested to hear which you agree with more, and your thoughts on Freud's ideas, such as his Oedipus complex or the 'trinity' of ID, Ego and Superego? Do you think such psychodynamic theories are relevant today in a world of CBT and NLP?

Is this an ambush to expose me as someone who hasn't read the psychodynamic theories?. My mother's a councellor ID, Ego, superego to simplify C P A No? As for the Oedipus complex I think that something that Freud should take up with his dad

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by loucastel on Dec 13, 2008 22:24:31 GMT 1, I love the idea of the mangoes and clocks, mr cartrain, however to expound on that a bit more I think we need to explore the possible dynamics of time versus decay, of which as I'm sure you are aware there are several theories, being that the mango lives a short but beutifull life, giving imense pleasure to the recipient, (unless you happen to be alergic). Anyway, I have a question for you mr Cartrain, can I ask why you did'nt capitalise on the Hirst thing? and let him take you too court, the publicity would have been phenominal, you could probably have retired after selling your story to a few of the daily's, after all, what could he possibly have won from you, what with you being so young!!

i could'nt agree more with you Hirst was never going to take me to count once he was aware of my age. But having demanded the originals which he had no right to do. i gave them up hoping for a response which i never got. So that was the end of the story I would really like to be known for my own work not just the hirst thing. The news paper coverage spiraled things out of control i never even gave an interview to the daily mail

I think you're being a tad disingenuous here. You couldn't buy this kind of publicity. 100artworks have said on these boards how demand for your work has rocketed.

i thought you were interested in knowing whether i understood psychodynamic theories not whether i could spell, I thought for someone like you, you could respond with a better response then a misspelled word

If you thought my last post was simply about a spelling mistake you are missing the underlying allegorical and symbolic meaning which underlies the more obvious understanding of the sentence. I thought for someone like you, you could have responded with a far more meaningful retort.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Deleted on Dec 16, 2008 15:32:05 GMT 1, Because so many members on here have requested a full explanation of the collage work and because I have taken such a hammering from some members solely to engage in little more than what is becoming a tiresome exchange of outwitting I have decided to explain the work fully in the hope that we can end this trashing of one another. In doing so I feel the work will have lost its charm and I would have preferred not to do this. Here is a piece that is about a party that was held at the Ritz hotel the day the guns fell silent on the 1918 battlefields. Whilst for the solders in the trenches there was only a stunned silence. On one level it was a comment on how the aristocracy insulate themselves from the true horrors of reality. I have hinted at FREUD AND JUNG only to be asked if the Oedipus complex was anything to do with a triangle. This piece as with all the other collages I have tried to create tensions and conflicts between the various images that reflect the tensions and conflicts that are exchanged by the ID and the superego. And that these conflicts are thrown at us by politicians where they are the super ego and we are the id. All the work were reflections of bush, Blair and browns roles as super ego controlled by the ego of the NWO
