Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by f5ers on Jan 11, 2009 10:46:39 GMT 1, Hey f5ers - I take the view that there are some first rate artists showing their work on this forum. Some with a view to selling, some not, but nonetheless, lots of quality imo. I would not like to think that comments like yours would put artists off showing their work. Whilst a lot of what is posted is def not to my taste, I would rather artists felt the inclination to post pieces for comment/our enjoyment. Cheers c I tend to agree with this, after all it's not just artists"hawking their wares" is it? Would be nice to see a few more posts with constructive criticism or encouragement rather than blatant insults which are themselves becoming pretty tedious, and from members that really ought to know better. Yeah,of course this is another piece influenced by Hirst, with a witty drug title as was done by Beejoir. Beejoirs title alluded to his meaning in my opinion and I bet that Cartrains use of Magic trees does too.I doubt he'll tell us though.
My bad... had another look at it and its actually like one of those 3-D Prints from the early 1990's. You gotta stare at it and kinda go cross eyed and then you'll see the embedded image.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by LEVI C on Jan 11, 2009 11:42:50 GMT 1, un-original and very simple. If you do have fans, I don't feel it is fair on them to put so little into it, almost insulting. My opinion without trying to insult. Hero why don't you and cartrain do a collab?

I thoroughly agree my comment was made tongue in cheek hence the at the end. Artists should be able to show their work if they are proud of it, although it has to be said the artist must be prepared for both negative and positive cooments. We all have our own tastes afterall!

Cartrain's work may be derivate and amateurish to almost painful degrees but really, LEVI C, you are very much the pot calling the kettle black...

It's comments like this that lead these no-talent chancers to believe that they can actually make some moeny or even, god forbid, a career out of street art and, of course, the subsequent print and canvas ediitons.
There is more than enough crap art to wade through without multiple editions being released of every half-arsed idea to float through the mind of every half-arsed pseudo artist out there...

I think I'd question the sanity of anyone wanting to spend Β£4-5K on one. Both beejoir and cartrain are trying to take us for a ride, just one is riding us much harder...

I didn't 'lap up' beejoirs spot piss takes. They were poor, this is poor. The reason cartrain is a 'whipping boy' is because his entire output from his crappy street stencils to his shoddy indoor pieces has been uniformly crap. And people do notice...
Does the hirst legal action mean that every piece cartrain s**ts out from now will be some unfunny piss take of Hirst works? Because that's already old...

goffy u know what that's utter cack, people questioned Beejoir's immodium piece straight off, some liked it some didn't, but don't let that stop u talking your usual load of moany rubbish. In conclusion I'd say Beejoir has done some work of merit (and had a pop at Hirst long before this lad did) while Cartrain has done what?

More than most of us, and has a shitstorm thrown at him everytime.Yet he continues to do so. The cocks is funny in that a spiteful person has taken the time to create it, upload it and get the usual pats on the back for ripping someone for trying....

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by corblimeyswife on Jan 11, 2009 15:42:16 GMT 1, If the 'artwork' is to be called Magic Mushrooms, wouldn't it make more sense for it to look like this...
Can't believe anyones sticking up for and taking the shit dished out by Cartrain, this 'work' of his is awful, plain and simple. It takes no time, skill or imagination to chuck together, for those of you who like it there's no point in buying his stuff, just make your own, or buy some nice wrapping paper and stick it on the wall.

'Moany rubbish indeed!' say's the boy with 26 posts. I don't think so. And unlike most of the people on here I don't go on how much my collection is worth or not worth. Or sell a print that I love as soon as I can get some sucker who will pay me twice what I paid for it. Anyway,I refer you to my tag line below.

Not really a case of sticking up for anyone, just speaking out against spiteful people bullying artists. If you don't like it, 'not for me' would suffice.
But instead you create images to rip the back out of the artist, imo this makes you look like a spiteful/miserable old man. Grown men having sigs on other forums spouting 'I'm an official cartrain hater' or suchlike
While the majority of his stuff is not my cup of tea, i CANNOT knock the guy for doing what he wants to do, would perhaps err towards having respect for him for continuing to do what he wants/believes in. Even in the face of all the hate directed towards him from people twice? his age

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by mikeo on Jan 11, 2009 16:30:53 GMT 1, curiousgeorge, someone shouldn't be congratulated simply for trying as you seem to be suggesting. Wheras, they definitely should be prepared to accept negative opinions if they tout their work on public forums.
Two sides to every coin and all that.
Incidentally, what on earth does anyones age have to do with anything? Is there some unwritten law that to criticise someone the critic needs to fit into some specific age bracket? Would it be more acceptable if all the people who hated cartrain were his age?
As for spiteful bullying? You are joking aren't you?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by curiousgeorge on Jan 11, 2009 16:37:07 GMT 1, Negative opinions and the stuff i have read in recent months regarding Cartrain are WORLDS apart. As for being congratulated simply for trying, i prefer to see it as fair play for keeping on AND not rising to nasty/personal diatribes from others.
I say the above is i know, if i were Cartrain and had the same stuff said about me online, i would be keen to meet these people in the flesh and probably lose my temper. This i admire!! and a trait i would be proud of if i possessed it
Age to me means, having the maturity to know what to say and what not to say. Each to his own i guess,
