Craig Everett ๐ฌ๐ง Rourke Van Dal โข Urban Artist, by LEVI C on Jul 31, 2008 12:04:57 GMT 1, Just starting to get abit more invloved in this forum and i have to say (especially after my slightly negative post on Eyesaws thread!) your work is fantastic!!! I think your ideas 'work' really well and your freehand is inspiring to say the least. I came across your "duz my gun look big in this" ages ago, before i had heard of you. Always really wanted one, but well skint, will get one asap if you still have any. One question that has puzzled me is why did you call it- duz my gun look big in 'this' and not 'these'?
cheers

I always think it would be so interesting if computers were wiped out tomorrow how it would affect the scene? Who could carry on? Who would have to give it up. I don't think it's essential to be able to draw as a stencil artist, its just interesting as to how many artists rely on the live trace feature! Anyway, thats just my input!

Thats an interesting point actually, I meant it really from a technical point of being able to create the work but I guess we all underestimate just how much it would have an impact on the appreciation of the scene, after all a lot of street art only exists to mosts people as a photo on the internet

Cheers mate, when I said complete freehand, I meant normally I before i do a paint, I draw the image out in pencil. But with this one I just painted it straight away. (a bit like Rolf Harris ;D),.
Computers - If da Vinci was alive he'd have a mac, prob goes for all others aswell.

Yeah I thought thats what you meant, it's great. A good skill to have, please don't think that I am saying anyone who calls themselves an artist should be able to draw!
Completely agree about Da Vinci, after all part of being a genius is working out an easier way to do something!

thats an intresting point, i was wanting to do some stencils around my city, but dont like all these 'cutout filter' stencils so i decided to get a picture, print it out, then stick it on a lightbox and start hand drawing a stencil - bloody hard !
and for people that comment that banksy cant draw hands, u should give it a try, aint as easy as it looks !

I completely agree, this is how I create my stencils, really frees you up to create something a bit more organic. I just print of B&W photos and cut directly into them, after a while of doing that your eyes automatically start to split up all the colours and shades, it's gets a lot easier with time!
