How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by linter on May 9, 2012 15:14:16 GMT 1, I like how this Stik is framed and would like to do that myself, maybe by ordering stuff from american frame. Can somebody explain how it's done? I don't see a mat. So, how's everything held in and what do I need to get to emulate what I see? seems like it ought to be pretty simple, hopefully simple enough for a fumble-fingers like me to do it on my own. thanks!

YOu real? Steps 1: Measure Print 2: Order frame that suits print 3: Open frame once recieved (please note only open frame once package receieved) 4: Take backing board from frame 5: Put print in frame 6: Put back, back on frame, close 7: attached string or what ever 8: put nail or screw or fixing into wall, 9: lift frame 10: hang on screw.
Any more info required please contact me

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by linter on May 9, 2012 15:47:41 GMT 1, Yeah, I'm real, just dopey. but riddle me this:
1/ So, in this instance, the frame itself is acting as the mat, so I'd need to order it *smaller* than the overall size of the print, right? 2/ That being the case, i recall reading that you should put some tape around the frame, especially if it's wood, to keep acid (or something) from leaching from the wood into the print. Zat right? 3/ how is the glazing attached to the lip of the frame? 4/ any problems associating with this kind of frame?

Just fucking wid ya,
I have just oredered frames the size of the prints , most websites explain there measureing system in detail, all based on your normal meausring systems,
well depends how much you want to spend i recon , most prints i got in frame withough a mount have just been placed in the frame nothing else added , now this may not be great for things costing you 1000's but to me to spend more on a frame than the art cost is frankly obsered, you may aswell hang empty frames as the art.
usually glazing , sits within the frame so a small kinda rebate of 5mm max id guess which is non visible from the front,. so you would in theory lose 5mm from all the edges of your image.
Not that i know off, but then i dont worry as much as others might, i tend to get it on the wall and enjoy it , rather than spending hundreds on conseration framing, hey i might regret it in the future if any of the art i have has increased loads in value and it is somewhat damaged, But also framing without a mount , if there is fading it atleast all fades together, so hardly notice.

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by linter on May 9, 2012 19:02:32 GMT 1, well, what i can tell from the picture is where the glazing is on the frame, somehow in the back next to the print or somehow in the front of the frame. and where the heck is the rabbit? i'm perplexificated.

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by chaturz on May 9, 2012 22:26:44 GMT 1, If framed to edge you need what's referred to as a spacer to keep the image away from the glass , it acts as the mat.

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by chaturz on May 9, 2012 22:27:57 GMT 1, If you have deckled edges and don't wish to frame to edge or have a mat you achieve spacing by float mounting the image and keeping the glass away

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by linter on May 9, 2012 22:40:44 GMT 1, thanks. float mount is above my pay grade. and i've been reading up about spacers: seems that on larger prints you still have to hang the sucker or it may bow at the bottom. i also read that if the spacer presses on a print, it can dent it. maybe for something big like a stik, it'd be best to haul out my wallet and go to the pros. crap.

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by iamzero on May 9, 2012 23:28:26 GMT 1, Not at all, go to the framing section on here and you'll find some self framing info there to help point you in the right direction. I'm just about ready to go on my prints. And Chatz is spot on with his advice.

I'd be keen to see your results. I want to frame myself but lack the bottle especially with trying to float

How do you frame prints like this Stik?, by linter on Jun 12, 2012 17:19:54 GMT 1, okay, i finally self-framed by Stik (along w/ a mau mau). pretty easy all the way around. ordered frame kit from framedestination here in the US. everything fit swell. i used lineco strips to mount the print to the backer and that's the only place where i really messed up. i forgot to cut the mylar strips so they wouldn't show above the mat's border, and by the time i noticed, i had everything put together and was done. ooof. oh well, you can see 'em unless you're close. have a look from a distance:
