Seven years with Banksy - book, by naughtyshorty on May 28, 2012 15:38:14 GMT 1, anyone read this? i just got given it as a birthday present and its actually quite interesting. The guy who writes it is a bit annoying, but its an interesting insight (of sorts) more of the scene rather than of banksy himself.
some cool pictures too - some of which i hadnt seen before. reckon the author wont be receiving any more prints as presents... At least he stops short of revealling his full name or any proper pics...

I see many gave this a bad review. But witch book do you find most educating or most interesting about Banksy?

Seven years with Banksy - book, by naughtyshorty on May 29, 2012 14:38:06 GMT 1, to be honest, its the only book i've ever read about him, so cant compare. there must be a whole shelf of waterstones that i have missed! from reading it, you could tell that the author is more of an acquaintance than a friend, and basically their paths cross from time to time and thats about it.
throw in a couple of dodgy dreams the author has about banksy and you're good to go..

I am not clued up on Banksy like some on here - but I liked reading about what he got up to whilst living in New York etc.. and how he came about his early works.
Obviously the writer (Robert) new him. But a few things bugged me, WTF were all the dreams he was having about Banksy? Also he kept on 'bumping' into him where ever he seemed to be whether it would be London,Bristol,New YOrk, Kayaking the Amazon, climbing Mount Etna... 'oh look there's ROBIN" FFS.....?? Why also at the end of the book say he would never give up his identity but throughout the whole book talk about his real name being ROBIN (ie. as found out by Daly Mail) and that Banksy asked him if he should call himself Robin Banks? Robert said no "as your tag would be way too long" and lastly just something I have always been curious about, Robert said he was definately not from privileged background, where did he get the funds for all those stunts (commisioned sculptures in London) etc.. was some one bank rolling him from the start?? Did Banksy write this book?? Does his misses take it up the ****?? Why am I wasting my time writing this during my lunch break and it's lovely and sunny outside??

Really enjoyed this book. I had some similar questions mentioned above but over all found it to still give a good glimpse of his mindset and demeanor. Breezed through it in just over 3 hours last night. Deceivingly thick in appearance but each page probably has half the text of an average book due to the stylized margins.
Highly recommended.
