Martin Whatson - the new DOLK?, by saint on Apr 27, 2012 14:30:42 GMT 1, I like Martin, I like his work, and I like him as a person, he's always been very nice and polite to me when we've chatted.
But if you think he came before Logan you need to do some research.
Also, i'm not sure if he's ever actually painted on the streets other than at legal spots, or on walls where he's been asked to paint there legally.
Would love to be proven wrong, but all the pics of street work i've seen are legal.
He's not gonna be the next dolk (who is the next banksy, who was the next blek.... etc....), but thats not a bad thing IMO, no need to be the next anything, instead be the first you (IMO).

Martin Whatson - the new DOLK?, by curiousgeorge on Apr 27, 2012 20:22:13 GMT 1, Given where this genre was born (the streets) artists need a thicker skin
I like the guy too and think he is gifted with the can and scalpel, however going through his flickr is almost an a-z of the scene.I'm not hating on him at all but he seems like a animal trapped in a cage
Of course no one likes to be told stuff is wack or copied but through these nuggets artists could learn a thing or two. Did he stop posting directly after Logan came on here?
I do wish him the best and hope he finds his own voice soon, technically he is up there with the best of them almost

Martin Whatson - the new DOLK?, by fatscoundrel on Apr 27, 2012 21:37:07 GMT 1, Agreed Curious George. It reminds me of the film little voice in a way. An artist needs to stand up to his work and say this is who I am and experiment. It is alright for established artists to experiment and whether that receives acclaim and hatred for their work like Tracy Emin then so be it but the sum total of works for a good artist will always shine through. And what Martin is producing now is good. I am thinking of buying a love cops myself. It is alright for artists to hide behind a veil like Paul McCartney`s The Fireman or not tagging street art when your established as your afraid of peoples reaction but he should be proud of his work and of being an artist. That is just my view.

I've known Martin for a good 8+ years and he's painted a lot on the street, especially illegally, as for being around as long as Logan, we'll theres not much in it to be honest.
I'm not to keen on his new work, preferred it 4-5 years ago to be honest.

Martin Whatson - the new DOLK?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Apr 28, 2012 1:01:17 GMT 1, and Logan Hicks has been copying his style for years, so he must be doing something right.. wait Logan "copying" MW? Logan said it's the other way around... [/quote]
Yeah sorry, my initial post was very much tongue in cheek. Let's just say they both have talent and I didn't realise MW has been producing for so long either.

Hi Brooksie, Do you have any pics of his illegal street work?? Genuinely interested in seeing them, as looking around all i can see are stickers, canvas drops, and legal walls....

I dont think its ment the new Dolk as in style, but as in the next big Norwegian street artist. At the time i would say Dolk is the only one from his country that could be considered big internationally in this category.
At least thats how i see it.

Martin Whatson - the new DOLK?, by Shoot Again on May 7, 2012 23:29:15 GMT 1, I bought 3 OGs from MW (one being a commission he agreed to do when my baby girl was born) while I never found an image from DOLK that I liked enough to put on my wall so MW (who's also a very genuine / nice guy) definitely gets my vote ;-)

Also liking his new movement into using graff and explosion of colour on people and greyscale
