My point is Warhol was an American Icon as opposed to Hirst who is not an American icon. Hence Warhol art being more valued in the US. Will the next big wave of new money favour Hirst? I doubt it.
Only time will tell... but I think the big investors will continue to put their money into artists who put on the biggest shows, and attract the most attention... Hirst is still one.

In theory if one buys a Hirst painting or print today with provenance. They have an investment.
Downside depends on how much control the big dealers have over the Hirst market and salerooms. Where a saleroom accepts their print but refuses to accept a print owned by a nobody.

Though that doesn't really explain why it wasn't just made an 11 by whatever grid. Just ignore me. |
