passwords leaked , by fingerz on Jun 8, 2012 17:10:25 GMT 1, just had this email dont know if it affects any one on here
It has been reported in the last two days that up to 6.5 million LinkedIn and 1.5 million eHarmony passwords have been leaked online by a single hacker. Both sets of passwords were 'hashed' (encrypted), however it is believed that hackers have been able to decrypt the vast majority of these passwords.
It has also been reported that the released files do not contain any associated usernames or email addresses, but this information has also been compromised and are likely to be leaked in the future.
Both LinkedIn and eHarmony have now confirmed that they have had passwords stolen. If you are either a LinkedIn or eHarmony member we suggest you take the steps below just in case.
Top Tips
Change your LinkedIn / eHarmony password immediately; Immediately change passwords for any other sites where you have used this same password or username password combination; Avoid using this password again for any online services; Use strong passwords, the longer the better; Continue to monitor news for LinkedIn and eHarmony - if there is vulnerability, and it is ongoing, you may wish to change your password more than once.
