To be honest Steve could do a winning print on most of his work. I didnt realise there was another two editions of 50. Great talk here on projects etc

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by bonesy on May 22, 2012 11:04:21 GMT 1, Interesting colorway and great price. Glad to see an artist doing it for the fans not the flippers.
Ive had the original POW release (cream) nicely framed on my wall for years. I prefer when an artist does not produce a new colorway years after the original 2 colorways are long sold out. If Banksy released a Girl with Pink Balloon I would feel the same way. They are linited edition prints and im not a fan of creating new colors, sizes, or printing techniques of something already sold out. I understand some newer fans that missed out on the origonal release may like the opportunity but the integrity of the whole thing changes to me when artists go back to revisit long sold out images. Im saying this because i collect limited edition prints, it has nothing to do with flipping.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by jusdeep on May 22, 2012 11:49:46 GMT 1, I was going to post something along similar lines, although I don't have either of the original prints from POW. I also would prefer any artist not to oversaturate the market with alternative colourways. The artist should stick to their original decision and not change their mind 'X' years down the line. If they want to release different colours they should be sold in very limited numbers not runs of 200 preferably stating all information on release. I really don't like the idea of saturating the market or lessening the desirability of a print by raising the overall edition size.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by European Bob on May 22, 2012 12:08:09 GMT 1, IMO It is a very disirable image and the pow edition will always be the most desirable and generate a higher premium. I think it is a great addition to the image and the artist must have felt a need to create more as I don't see it as just a money spinner.
Fingers crossed I can get one of the ed 50.

bonsey, i completely agree with what you're saying but in this case i don't consider these as additional colorways. while the concept is the same and the print itself looks generally the same, the image/typeface is in fact, actually different. because of that i'd consider this print as two editions, the POW edition with two color variant and the First and Fifteenth edition with three color variants.

The next 2 versions are 12 colour to be fair although the typeface has been tweaked. Still enough changes for me to try and bag another though, i hope he releases a black version even though it looks very similar to the black og from 2009.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by curiousgeorge on May 23, 2012 9:22:32 GMT 1, I believe this and the previous release were made due to feedback from fans of his work
I'm not a fan of making new additions down the line but nothing is ever black and white, just take a look at his output of prints over the years of painting (it's tiny) I can think of other artists much closer to home that are totally milking the print market
ESPO = Paid his dues (imho)
I don't these will impact the original versions prices in a negative (for those that care) if anything just the opposite.
