New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by ilmambo on Jun 12, 2012 16:24:12 GMT 1, I wish that they would lay their cards on the table in advance of the release. It would be nice to know how many are going to be available, the price and what they all look like. I hate having to make split second decisions. I would like to know in advance if they're within budget and deciding which one to try for. Faile don't need to worry as they'll all sell out anyway, so why the lack of info?
I agree and I just sent an email to Faile asking them to upload all the works on the shop before the drop, with an "add to cart" button that will appear at noon tomorrow. hopefully they'll read the email and follow our advice.

I did the same thing, dont know of anyone else who releases stuff without a preview of the pieces and an understanding of prices and edition size, I have no idea why they do it as I cant think of any reason why doing this would affect the outcome of the sale...
I hope they decide to let everyone view the works and have time to decide which one to go for.

...I agree, but can you honestly see them making wholesale changes to the way they conduct their online sales the day before a big release?
The email proves they've already given some thought to it and reacted to feedback... whether you like the way they are proposing to do it or not

Yeah totally agree, unlikely to make any changes as the release im sure is ready to go, maybe they will change it for the next release.
Their May email indicated a series of releases every 6 weeks so this way they may evolve as time goes on.
To be honest after making the best part of a quarter of a million dollars from each release one wonders why they dont implement a decent retail front end onto the webiste with stock management and checkout.... cant be that hard surely?
Did they really sit down and scratch heads only to decide that the best way to do it would be to let everyone scramble to buy and let only the first person checkout...surely not?
Artists are great at lots of things....online retail strategies aint one of them....
Love the buzz of the bunfight though so maybe lets leave things as they are

New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by connecta1 on Jun 12, 2012 17:01:54 GMT 1, ...I'm with you on all of that mate, especially given the 6-week-ish release cycle they've mentioned
Bunfights are fun when you are talking about multiple editions, I just think for unique pieces like these a preview of some sort would have been nice. Hopefully they'll get their act together for the next release...
Hey-ho, shouldn't complain, more Faile coming... it's a good thing

yeah I kinda realised that, was more a case of the utilisation of the horse/flowers image on the book covers as an indication of the type of composition that may be on offer.
Thought that went without saying?

New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by olapig on Jun 12, 2012 17:21:29 GMT 1, Is it me or does this system sound even more frustrating than people carting items and waiting for them to pop up again? Just means that anyone with a slow internet speed doesn't stand a chance of checking out quickly and probably by the time all your details have been entered to find out it's already sold most of the others will be gone. Hopefully I'm wrong, but we'll see.
Totally agree. So we have no idea what is going to be released or price etc. which forces you to press the buy button probably before the actual image of what you have bought has even finished loading. Then even if you like what you have "carted" you have to check out before somebody gets there before you. This really gives you no time to decide if you like the cover or not.

New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2012 18:26:30 GMT 1, Book cover prices...
Laz book covers cost ยฃ500 + VAT at the last show - so ยฃ600 for Laz book covers.
With an exchange rate as it is - anything less than $774 will be cheaper than the ยฃ500 - although the import charge is 5% (Originals) not 20% - so again, you could be better off.
Can of worms - opened.
Last ones at Lazarides (not reall "source" then) were ยฃ500 framed if I remember well

New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by mrtee on Jun 12, 2012 20:17:23 GMT 1, The next step in selling Faile art must be to just show the price tag and a buy it button.
In 2013 we will only see the buy it button, no image of the art work or the pricetag....
Good luck tomorrow everyone! (iยดm not even trying with this system)

Not sure I got that point over

New Faile Book Covers June 13th, by twist65 on Jun 13, 2012 1:05:20 GMT 1, I hope they're not $1200 and it does seem a bit strange to sell work direct for more than double the price they were at a gallery/show. Which would mean that Faile are getting approx 4 times more themselves than they did at Post Mo Bills / last years Laz show..
But I did think they were a total steal before - unique framed originals for cheaper than a Paper Monster edition, no brainer really. I really want one of these, already resigned to missing out in the bunfight though and am sure my credit card will breathe a sigh of relief!!
