Peter Blake Beatles print, by tommm9 on Jul 10, 2012 11:07:25 GMT 1, Wow that's a huge jump in price, I was expecting them to go up £50-£100! Be surprised if this 100 sells out any time soon, sure they'll be loads on ebay before long.

£500 for a 20 colour screen print is still cheap in my book. They will sell quickly.

Peter Blake Beatles print, by Happy Shopper on Jul 10, 2012 11:19:44 GMT 1, Edition of 500 though. Still, I guess when his smaller editions sell for 1000s this is still a good deal, and a great image IMO.

Yeah just thought people would be less inclined to pay that much knowing that the first 100 were so cheap in comparison... Was a bargain at £200!

Peter Blake Beatles print, by Winter on Jul 10, 2012 14:18:06 GMT 1, I think the £200 was a total bargain but compared to what CCA put on some of their pieces this is still very reasonable

Peter Blake Beatles print, by chaturz on Jul 10, 2012 14:32:11 GMT 1, Don't forget people are selling / buying the car boot fair mini print for £250-300 so this is a steal in my opinion. Plus it's a Blake iconic image with an interesting story for those who read that FT article. If you like the Beatles and you like Blake it's a no brainier if you want to make a quick buck you will probably struggle, if youre looking for long term investment you'll probably do well even @ £500. Don't think there will be much flipping as I've only seen 1 of the first 100 on eBay, though must say I'm happy I grabbed one of the first 100 but if I didn't I would probably still grab it at £500. 20 layers is impressive work

Peter Blake Beatles print, by Octopus UK on Jul 10, 2012 19:44:07 GMT 1, I read this "The next batch of 100 have now been released for sale. *Please note prices may vary for the rest of the edition." I wonder if this means that future releases might be cheaper?

I reckon this print could be his 2nd most iconic if the FT theory is correct after Sergeant peppers of course.

Peter Blake Beatles print, by bullet on Jul 10, 2012 21:07:59 GMT 1, Blakey is one of those artists where people think he will pop his clogs and his stuff will be worth loads.
Lets be honest, there is alot of stuff out there and he is certainly getting his moneys worth. Never known someone do so many prints. He is like the British Mr brainwash of the 1960s

"In 1963 Blake travelled to California with Jann Haworth, the American artist who had become his wife. Driving along Venice Beach in a cool Corvette Stingray, he heard The Beach Boys, and the following year made a screenprint based on the front cover of one of the group’s albums. With hindsight, we can see that this interest in covers must have helped to prepare Blake for the momentous task of designing the sleeve for Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – perhaps Blake’s most famous image.
The year was 1967, and The Beatles had already commissioned a cover for their album from a Dutch design collective called The Fool. But the art dealer Robert Fraser urged his friend Paul McCartney to commission Blake instead. His design was a tour de force, blending waxwork figures and life-sized photographic cut-outs of more than 70 iconic figures. Selected by Fraser and The Beatles as well as Blake and Haworth, they range from James Dean, Marlene Dietrich and Marlon Brando to Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud and Indian gurus admired by George Harrison. The entire set was assembled in the studio of the photographer Michael Cooper, and the total cost amounted to a hefty £2,868 5s 3d. It was then the most expensive album cover ever made, and yet Blake received a fee of only £200, without royalties.
Perhaps that is why his painting of “The 1962 Beatles”, which he finally completed in 1968 after a five-year gestation, looks strangely subdued. Based on a photograph of the group published after they returned from an early residency in Hamburg, it portrays them with neat haircuts, collars and ties. Only George is grinning, and even his face remains oddly blurred. John, Paul and Ringo all look tense and muted. The white boxes above their heads were intended by Blake to contain their autographs. But the boxes were never signed and remain empty, adding to the distinct air of unease in this haunting image."

I guess if 5 years ago you had the bailiffs turn up at your door and was broke, you would want to milk it now as much as possible.
Not a good place to be for anyone, but at 75 that must of knocked the wind out of him. Good luck to him i say and milk it as much as you can.
Tax and death are the only certainty in life.
