Kid Acne ๐ฒ๐ผ Street Art โข New Print Release โข For Sale, by jakek on Apr 7, 2009 12:08:25 GMT 1, i really like kid acne's work, i pciked up a quality set of decks that he designed last year (3 warrior girls with skating injuries), and i do really like these prints but like so many others am trying to cut down on the art buying though.
the "pow effect" is pretty impressive - if these sell out it'll mean that there are a lot of people just jumping on the bandwagon. rather than buy one of these for ยฃ90 i'd be much more likely to buy one of the unique pizza boxes for just ยฃ30 more at stella dore.
i'm not that keen on the stella dore "smoke and mirror" prints but they are much better priced than the pow ones. does anyone know if this is because smaller galleries add on less of a margin/fee than pow or just because pow know they can charge more and still sell them? not a criticism at all, just genuinely intrigued...

yeah, i get that, i was just wondering whether the artist would get to see the same amount back. whether pow use their reputation to make more profit or whether the artist gets more aswell (and i fully understand that the artist will also have the opportunity to say that they're on pow)

Kid Acne ๐ฒ๐ผ Street Art โข New Print Release โข For Sale, by ElectrikSheep on Jun 10, 2010 14:59:28 GMT 1, Yo Jimmy Nail Gun. Electrik Sheep proudly present: Dust In The Giant's Eye - an exclusive exhibition by modern-day renaissance man and UK graffiti stalwart, Kid Acne. The Sheffield based artist rides into town like baddies off Super Gran (that means he drives a Sinclair C5) for his inaugural show in the North East.
Kid Acne began writing graffiti as a boy, inspired by its infinite scale, colour and immediacy. Applying the same DIY ethos to the rest of his output, he spent his teenage years creating underground fanzines, comics and releasing limited run 7" and Lp's on his own Invisible Spies imprint.
His work as a grown-up has been seen throughout the world, in exhibitions from Helsinki to Melbourne and in weekend rap-sprays from New York to Azerbaijan.
Whilst Kid Acneโs signature illustrations have graced apparel for the world's leading brands, the man himself continues to paint walls in sub-zero temperatures. His current cast of warrior women and mythical creatures inhabit a fantastical world of epic slogans and backhanded compliments... And he still has acne.
Preview night 1st July from 6.30pm

Kid Acne ๐ฒ๐ผ Street Art โข New Print Release โข For Sale, by christyben on Dec 5, 2010 17:49:51 GMT 1, Probably very very late posting in this thread.
Did anyone else go to this?
Kid Acne sold off about 20 hand drawn and hand framed pics, they seemed to mainly sell out in the first hour of the opening night. Was a lovely gesture as they were only about ยฃ50 each, (the fox print was ยฃ150, which was nice but not sure if I'd want a lady dressed in a dead fox on my wall)
