My first SLR camara, by leaky217 on Aug 2, 2012 8:55:16 GMT 1, I'm just gonna purchase my first SLR but don't have that much experience with them I've been told the camara to go for is a cannon d500 a cheap tripod and a remote a wondered on other peoples thoughts and other suggestions as I'm a real beginner and don't want to waste my money thinking I could have got better for my buck

Instead of going down the full SLR route I bought a bridge camera which is basically a SLR but with a fixed lens, went for a Fuji HS30 and to me its unbelievable, most of the benefits of a SLR without having interchangeable lenses. Probably not one for the serious camera buffs but to me its mind blowing, worth having a look before you commit to a full SLR.
You sound like me! My first SLR camara, by Dellboyy on Aug 2, 2012 11:01:21 GMT 1, Might be worth looking at the Micro Four Thirds standard. They're generally cheaper, a lot smaller / more portable because of the mirrorless system. But don't have the full frame sensor of a full slr.
If you want top end look at something like OLYMPUS OM-D E-M5, if you want utter bargain, look at something like OLYMPUS PEN E-PL1

Canon's answer was simply its a competative market.
My 550d id the best money I have spent on anything apart from art, sex, drugs and rock and roll in my life.
If that doesn't convince you I don't know what will. Also Jessops do a great flash for canons which only cost about 70quid, campared to the hundreds people spend on canans flash, my brothers a pro photograher and he uses the jessops one.
what ever you choose I hope you enjoy as much as me.
Althgough I've not used the function the HD video is as good as it gets on it as well. but you ave to buy an external microphone for stereo or your limited to mono.

I have been onto the wife 'this is the one we need to get'!! (she hasn't given in and says its too expensive  I will keep pestering her) very impressed by it, I like the retro feel and its smaller than the other SLR's so you can 'whip it out'.. Only think being addicted to ltd ed. stuff the salesman pointed me in the direction of the black ltd version - which is a lot more expensive though

ok check this out.
call them up - they sell reconditioned cameras too - which come with a full g/tee
and the price is considerably lower.
if you need anymore info pm me - trust me - this machine blows everything clean out of the water.. i managed to catch wiggo flying past yesterday using it. (i jest you not).

i wasn't , alas around in 32 and hasten to add the ££ of it now would have bought you
something considerably larger in ... 32.
so ..hey looks retro.. but is in fact... way ahead... of many others.
