Road bike infomation., by victorwilliams on Sept 17, 2012 18:24:45 GMT 1, Im looking to get into road cycling, anyone on here willing to share knowledge on the subject would be most helpful. I haven't got a huge budget for a bike, I'm in the dreaded region of sub 400 pounds. So I'm thinking of trying to get my hands on a older higher spec model. May be able to part ex with art if anyone has such a bike knocking around gathering dust in the garage. Cheers.

Road bike infomation., by Hubble Bubble on Sept 17, 2012 18:43:14 GMT 1, VW Happy to share my bike knowledge and opinions for what it's worth. I have six bikes - a cervelo P2 TT, cervelo R3 road, Specialized Allez road, Specialized Langster fixie, Kona MTB and - most importantly of all - an old Raleigh for cycling down to the pub At your budget I'd urge you to see if you can't find a bit more dosh. If you can, you won't regret it. I think halfords do a Boardman bike at £699 - one of my mates has this and has been really pleased. Chances are, if you do find something at £400, you'll need to spec it up with wheels or some groupset part. Something like the Boardman is a pretty sound buy. You can always buy components to upgrade it or, as with my Allez, it could become a winter bike if the bug really takes a hold and you find yourself buying a carbon beauty that costs more than a Grey Rain NOLA
PM me by all means if you want to chat further - I'd be happy to chat on the phone too.
Cheers HB
