HRH Prince Charles arrives at a civic function in Trowbridge and exits the Royal Rolls Royce sporting a Davy Crockett hat along with his formal black tie dinner suit.
His equerry, who had arrived some time before asks "Why the fur hat, sire?"
The Prince replies "Well, when I was running through my appointments with HM the Queen earlier and told her that my first engagement was this dinner in Trowbridge - Her Majesty said "Trowbridge? Wear the Fox Hat". Or at least that's what I thought she said"

My understanding is that he is reluctant to touch the face of this print.

I guess their defence - the seller - runs along the lines that they probably came by the piece 'in all good faith', without really checking it when it arrived and then moved it on (flipped it) when the enquiry came in.

They seemed to be going for around ยฃ2000 and above in good or mint condition. The one on the auction is presently at ยฃ2500 and the one at Hang Up ยฃ2750. I'm not sure that they've settled. I've had a few of these pass through my hands and the only one in good condition was the first one I picked up about 5 or so years ago - it had been framed straight away - and there was no damage to the edges nor any handling marks.
Imho the good condition Flags will catch and possibly by pass the prices of a lot of the less desired unsigned prints. At a guess, based on my own straw poll of Flags owned I reckon that there are about 400 survivors in good or better condition.
I've just managed to negotiate the return of my first one. It's now a keeper. I wouldn't sell it for the kind of money quoted above.
Message to the OP - Get in while you can even at ยฃ2,500.00. But I'm biased, I've grown to like the image and concept of the piece.
