Sorted - Thank you all for the help , by Howard Johnson on Jul 27, 2015 20:18:00 GMT 1, So looks like this thread worked and they finally initiated a refund! I thought I would just update everyone from this post instead of bumping this thread again and clogging up the front page. I just want to thank all of you for your help in this situation. I am totally to blame for buying a print without a COA, and no matter what anyone says about the hostility that can arise on this forum I can't thank you enough for all the support. It was honestly them seeing this thread that finally got me my money back. Plus, they have now stated that they will only be selling Banksy prints with verified COAs from now on, so I guess alls well that ends well.
To be fair, they sent over auction paperwork for the print, so it looks like this piece has been sold before as real and they were more or less relying on that paperwork as well as the gallery's authentication( "Unik Galley"). That doesn't excuse the conduct, but just another warning to always triple check provenance on every purchase. Plus, WCP if your reading this please see the damage that your prints have done to this hobby. I'm all for reasonably priced reproductions, but I urge you to put markings on the front of your prints as I am only the latest in a long line of people that have gotten ripped off by your reproductions.
Anyways, thank you all again and please feel free to reach out if yall need anything from me.

Obviously because its not genuine. Numbering looks just like the WCP versions. I hope you get your money back.

Sorted - Thank you all for the help , by Howard Johnson on Jul 27, 2015 20:54:58 GMT 1, Thanks for the help guys. Yeah its completely fake. To add insult to injury it arrived creased down the entire center of the print. The sticker is hilarious as well, its gives the "backstory" of banksy, like anyone spending thousands of dollars on a print wouldn't know who he is. Yeah I am partially to blame for buying it without a COA, but like I said it came from a major broker who is well respected on this forum. I'm gonna refrain from naming them before give them a chance to make this right.

It worrys me - there must be plenty of naive collectors out there who have very limited knowledge of the WCP prints.

Sorted - Thank you all for the help , by Unica on Jul 27, 2015 22:46:14 GMT 1, Did you buy the print framed and then take it out the frame to discover the deception? This gallery definitely needs to be named so they can explain themselves. I can only imagine they have done this before and there are other forum members who have bought from them and have WCP prints hanging on their wall, and they paid for and think they have originals. I certainly understand you not wanting to name them now while you have to get a refund, but I think its almost your civic duty to let us know at some point who sold you this, after all this is a community and we need to look after each other.

Sorted - Thank you all for the help , by met on Jul 28, 2015 1:08:37 GMT 1, So I recently picked up one of my favorite Banksy prints from one of the MAJOR online brokers and it arrived with a sticker and numbering on the back. I assume this is clearly a WCP and the sticker was used to cover the stamp, but I cant find any pictures of thier numbering to corroborate the claim. Can anyone help me out? No COA, but like I said it was from a very reputable site that claimed they personally inspected it and warranted its authenticity. Thanks in advance.
I hope that you're able to resolve this issue to your satisfaction.
For what it's worth, I am not aware of anyone among the "MAJOR online brokers" or with "a very reputable site":
(i) who has any real expertise regarding Banksy prints — enough to be considered a major broker in the field, or even to have a serious and established reputation in the Banksy market; and
(ii) whose working language is French (cf. the language of the 'Qui est Banksy?' sticker).

I have several WCP prints, including Nola and a couple of Kates, I'm certainly not ashamed, I know they aren't original prints and I don't pretend they are. I also have several original prints as well. The WCP prints are good quality copies, nothing more than that. If you know enough about Banksy prints, its pretty easy to tell the difference. In fairness to WCP it stamps them as copies and not a chance in hell one would get a Pest Control COA. The problems arise when unscrupulous dealers pass them off to people who really don't know what their buying and just want a Banksy on the wall. This gallery took advantage of the buyer and I hope is outed.

I agree with the others here, whoever sokd you this, needs to be outed for the sake of all! Thats not been done by accident, thats for sure.
At the same time, i don't blame you for holding back until you get your money back!
I wonder what their "experts" did to confirm it was Banksy!! my guess is went on google and searched "helicopter with pink bow" saw the results from google and decided "yep Banksy definatly did this!"

I guess their defence - the seller - runs along the lines that they probably came by the piece 'in all good faith', without really checking it when it arrived and then moved it on (flipped it) when the enquiry came in.
