Faile Flag โข Star Spangled Shadows Print, by docean on Aug 31, 2017 2:00:15 GMT 1, Perhaps off topic, but I'd probably kill for this on my wall. leave a regular flag in the sun long enough and you'll save yourself a lot of money

Harland Miller Artwork, VALUATION, by docean on Aug 26, 2017 14:59:48 GMT 1, Not trying to sell, just updating insurance stuff What's going rate on "The Me I Never Knew" ? I know some were up here recently and OC sold out of their last few at $8.5k USD CAT is currently asking for ยฃ8750, so for insurance purposes certainly more than that.
I just got quoted $16,250...not even 2 months and these things keep ripping.
I think my dreams of adding another may be fading.

Tristan Eaton ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข Toy Designer โข Hollywood LA , by docean on Aug 25, 2017 19:24:45 GMT 1, Going to play contrarian here...
I actually like it. And if Conor pulls off the upset this fight will be absolutely iconic. These have appeal well beyond the world of art collecting and will be gold for sports memorabilia enthusiasts. It's not just a print, he was commissioned to do the official fight image.

Trump-boy, why would you give someone who thinks it's only worth 10% more than cost first dibs if you decide to flip th....ooooh, Ok.
Sarcasm my friend.

Invader LED Print, by docean on Aug 23, 2017 22:59:51 GMT 1, Lol "rational" quoting secondary percentages that have never existed ever before. Right. I wasn't quoting anything. It is an arbitrary percentage I decided on based on what I think and am willing to spend. I am risk averse and know enough about ROI to know what's reasonable. Don't know why you need to be so hostile about it m8.

Invader LED Print, by docean on Aug 23, 2017 22:12:46 GMT 1, Most invader prints have a small edition size. Flippers might try and list this for double/triple the price, but they won't sell. Laz knows what its doing. They've most likely evaluated the market and priced the print accordingly. If you buy this for over 10% more than the release cost, you are overpaying.
What drugs are you on?

Those are included sometimes I think. But likely tampered with price-wise just like the regular editions

Artists use of Social Media, by docean on Aug 13, 2017 12:45:20 GMT 1, I'm all for artists on social media, and have had some great interactions on insta with a lot of artists, but some of the most successful don't use it at all, I think it creates an aura of mystery and limitedness about them. Harland Miller, Banksy, Chuck Close, just to name a few. Banksy is on social media - Instagram - (managed by one of his team I assume) and is no doubt fully aware of how quickly the medium can spread word of new pieces etc very quickly. The Walled Off Hotel, for instance, was initially communicated through his Instagram then through the media later the same day. There's also a separate account for The Walled Off Hotel.
I'm almost positive I've seen on his site before that he doesn't use social media.

Why 1xRun is a Scam, by docean on Aug 13, 2017 11:43:02 GMT 1, In defense on 1XRun. I have had great relations with the guys there, and scored some great deals on both prints and originals. Sometimes I have noticed a sharp price hike during archive sales- easy to get caught up in a snap decision- but to call it a scam goes a little far I think. I'm pretty sure they have the ability to print in a variety of techniques, including digital printing if requested by the artist. I thought it was common practice for galleries to raise prices on archived artwork. Amplifier was just selling the last few signed we the people print sets for $1500. They were only $300 on relaease thats a 500% increase in like 3 months- Granted thats a charity.
Yeah but they're not trying to pretend they're having a sale. 1xRun purposely misleads people in order to boost their sales. It's dishonest. All of the prints I'm talking about have already been archived, but given the size of the "sale discount" they jack up the original price accordingly.

Why 1xRun is a Scam, by docean on Aug 13, 2017 5:35:56 GMT 1, So 1xRun has a ton of prints on their site, and overall they're pretty affordable. Every week they post about a special archive access with certain prints available for only a certain period of time at huge "discounts." However, I've been tracking the prices of certain pieces to see if we're really getting a deal, and have seen regular prices fluctuate WILDLY. For instance, a print could be $150 retail (no noticeable sale going on) yet this weekend when they offer "40% off" I saw the price spike to over $300. Net result = you end up paying virtually the same price (in some instances more) Do they think we're stupid? If you're going to jack up prices just so you can pretend you're having a sale, don't bother doing it at all and insulting the art community. I agree with you for the most part, but I think what you're describing is pretty common in the marketplace. Businesses tend to surreptitiously raise prices during sales, and you end up paying more when you think you're paying less. Amazon, for instance, is pretty well-known for their "dynamic pricing model" - essentially a euphemism for "price-jacking".ย
I don't think anyone does it quite to the degree of 1xRun. I use a browser extension to check historical pricing on Amazon when I order things and have never seen more than a 20% variance (and even that would be much higher than the average I see). 1xRun we're talking 100%+ hikes

Why 1xRun is a Scam, by docean on Aug 13, 2017 4:50:08 GMT 1, Bought a couple of prints from them in the past. Most of their releases are just digital prints, where quality is just average at best. Never felt the justification to pay for many of the stuff on their site, no matter how much I like the image or how 'low' the prices are. But then again, many people buy prints just for the signature and edition number these days...
Quality-wise I have had mixed luck. A few prints have been stellar. Others, not so much.
Either way, I'm out on 1xRun going forward.

Why 1xRun is a Scam, by docean on Aug 13, 2017 4:48:32 GMT 1, Just found another one. Print is usually $45, they have it listed at $100. So your "40% off" is actually a 33% increase.
Would much rather give my business to respectable businesses.
