Oli Postcards 2021 is back, by pezlow on Apr 4, 2021 9:38:53 GMT 1, Hello everyone
We are very pleased to announce the return of Oli Postcards โ the charity's regular fundraiser which sells anonymous A5 postcard by the great and the good of the art world and by up and coming artists and would be artists.
Over the years Oli Postcards has garnered a loyal fan base and a list of past contributors which has included Sir Antony Gormley, Sir Peter Blake, Norman Ackroyd, Jonathan Yeo, D*Face, Theresa May, Eddie Redmayne, Dhruva Mistry, Pejac, Lawrence Weiner and many many others.
This year, sadly, we cannot arrange a face to face sale due to Social Distancing restrictions so, for one year only, the sale moves to an online auction (details to be announced shortly).
If you are an artist and would like to contribute to our sale please DM me your email address and address and we will send you a pack. Alternatively you can buy a pack for 99p (ebay wouldn't let me charge less than that) from ebay here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133714307523
and we will get one sent out to you. Deadline for requesting a pack is 4 May 2021 and deadline for returning cards is 4 June 2021

NFT Art

NFT Art , by pezlow on Mar 30, 2021 10:49:47 GMT 1, New Art editions are promoting S editions again. As I said above it is surprising that these digital editions are not given more love. Is it just because they aren't on the blockchain? The Tracey Emin are really great.

NFT Art
Mar 10, 2021 11:32:41 GMT 1
NFT Art , by pezlow on Mar 10, 2021 11:32:41 GMT 1, Hi all
My first comment for quite a while. My views of NFTs has slightly changed over time and currently sits at the following, fully acknowledging that I am a middle aged man:
I would never say these aren't art. Artists have been, for many years, pushing at the boundaries of the definition of art and this is just another example of it. Those saying that these are not art and will never be art will no doubt have said that about Duchamp's readymades or Emin's bed.
Of course just because it is art doesn't mean you have to like it and a great number of the NFT's for sale are not pieces of art that I like or appreciate. Some are in my view frankly awful. Equally I'm beginning to see some which are very interesting and, as time goes on and more artists get involved, the cream will inevitably rise to the top in what is a different and, dare I say it, exciting genre. It will never replace painting, printmaking or sculpture but it doesn't have to.
I agree with the comment above about this offering an important opportunity for performance and video art to come to the fore. I'd love to see Marina Abramovic, one of the most exciting contemporary artists, doing something in this space.
Also many of the NFTs I have seen are a mix of sound, generally music, and art. Which is again very interesting and really pushes the boundaries of what is art and who makes it. There are some very big musicians making this art which causes a really exciting fusion between art and music.
Of course you can't talk about art, especially contemporary art, without talking about money and this is no different. Perhaps even more so given the link between NFTs and cryptocurrency. Those wanting to speculate will speculate. It is putting a lot of money into artists pockets though (especially as secondary market sales on most of the platforms given a healthy return of the fees to the artists) so it can't all be bad.
Finally I would say the concept of digital art has been around for quite a while. Indeed you can buy a limited edition digital work by Tracey Emin, Yoko Ono, Yinka Shonibare and many others for a fraction of the price of NFTs from S-Editions.
They have also previously been for sale from the Royal Academy. It's hard to understand the differential in price between these art world heavyweights and some of the NFT releases, and I guess it is down to the blockchain element of NFTs (which the s-edition pieces don't have).
Equally numerous artists have been releasing digital works for years - Julian Opie, Paul McCarthy and Bill Viola being examples. There is no new concept in the art world.

Oli Postcards Sale 2019, by pezlow on Jun 9, 2019 14:33:59 GMT 1, Hi, itโs not an auction. All cards are the same price, ยฃ50, and all are available on the night for sales in person, all details on the www.olipostcards.com website.
We did used to have an online raffle prior to the event to give people around the world the chance to have the chance of buying in advance but that left attendance on the night not so great.
If you canโt attend on the night you can make telephone purchases, just email to register your interest.

Oli Postcards Sale 2019, by pezlow on Feb 21, 2019 16:11:13 GMT 1, Hope everyone is well. Forgive my first post in a while being a plug for my charity sale but many of the people on this forum will be familiar with Oli Postcards having previously bought cards (or indeed contributed cards) to previous sales. The generous support of people on this forum is very much appreciated.
Please put the date of Thursday 27th June 2019 in your diaries.
The sale will be at Westminster School, Ashburnham House, Little Deanโs Yard, London SW1P 3PF
www.olipostcards.com Over the coming months we will providing more details about the contributing artists for this year and posting images of the cards for sale.
In the past we've had contributors including Sir Peter Blake, Dface, Invader, Faile, Beejoir, Jonathan Yeo, Josie McCoy, Peter Jones, Elinor Evans, Anita Klein and many others. I can't promise a repeat of all those this year but I hope there will be something for everyone in the sale for a very modest ยฃ50 per cards. The cards are all A5 size and once framed look amazing. Call for contributors
In the meantime if any artist wishes to contribute a postcard or two please do email olipostcards@btinternet.com for a pack.
Cards have been sent out to previous contributors and should have arrived by now or very shortly.
Thanks for reading

Blu, Shepard Fairey, Beejoir and Mark Jenkins for sale, by pezlow on May 3, 2018 12:14:56 GMT 1, Hi All
I have the following items for sale, may add, others in due course:
Blu - World Wide Trap - edition of 200. Astute watchers of the market will note that I sold this print on Ebay about 6 months ago. At that stage the print was framed and due to issues with international shipping and customs declarations, the buyer (also a member on here) and I agreed to amicably walk away from the deal. I had lots of feedback that it was bad news to sell it framed and that I was limiting the market by doing so (a bit of a shame as art is there to be enjoyed but I get the concerns).
Hence since then the print has been de-framed. As anticipated it is in excellent condition. There was only one piece of tape along the top of the print. I could probably have removed this myself but to make sure done properly it was removed by Graham Bignell, print restorer extraordinaire.
The print is thus in top notch condition and can be shipped rolled or flat. If you want the frame you can have that too for collection only. Please note I do not have purchase invoice from POW for this print - it was bought by me from another member here - Vera Lynn - in around 2008 and since then has been displayed on the wall. I am 100% satisfied it is genuine.
Looking for ยฃ1,000
Shepard Fairey - Power and Glory Letterpress Print - ยฃ250
Will Barras - Large original painting on card, this is not in perfect condition as it has some slight edge bends. ยฃ400
Beejoir - 2 prints, different colours, called "Colour of Money" - each one ยฃ100 or ยฃ160 for the pair.
Beejoir - Blurry Mary - ยฃ200
Mark Jenkins - Tape Baby in black - ยฃ300
DM me for pics which I should be able to supply over the bank holiday weekend.
Cheers

Eine โข Single Letter Canvases , by pezlow on Dec 22, 2017 9:01:37 GMT 1, He used to sell any letter you want, any font you want. This was in the period 2005 to around 2010. I bought a couple from him in 2007 for ยฃ75 each. So they won't be editioned or numbered in any way. For a while he sold them through the short lived gallery Stella Dore and during that period they came with COA's but the ones sold both before and since that period don't have COA's but all are signed on the back.
In around 2008 he changed the sides so the ones before then have drippy sides whereas most of the ones since then the sides are fully painted black.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by pezlow on Oct 20, 2017 8:41:54 GMT 1, Loving Mammal's hair in this Pic!!
Great old photos especially the Ghetto 2004, sadly just before my time. And memories of old eBay forum. I remember my first post on there was moaning about how ridiculously expensive Banksy prints were on the secondary market. Lol

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by pezlow on Oct 15, 2017 9:17:28 GMT 1, good to see you resurface mate, like a lot of old members also.ย Nothing like a good ol' POW extravaganza to get the old school out.ย Bet you scored the best ones AGAIN!!ย Good to see some old faces back out for the final POW showdown There is no doubt there will be some crazy cards hidden up their sleeves for this final game of cat and mouse Now where's bongo? Mike? Any one else out there lurking from a decade ago ?
I have no advantage over anyone else. Probably less.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by pezlow on Oct 15, 2017 9:10:18 GMT 1, Morning all, first post for a while. A very sad day to see POW go. I have many many happy memories of F5'ing. The chaos of the morons release, landing a colour trollies, not even seeing the add to cart button for NOLA. And then all the fantastic times at the ghettos. Favourite memory is going to POW offices to exchange my stop and search (which for some reason was unsigned) and seeing all the stacks of old Banksy prints lying around. POW didn't always get it right but for me this is like losing an old friend. Their hearts were always in the right place. wotcha pez, hows the RCA Secret looking this year?
