Your latest Art Purchase?, by jusdeep on Nov 6, 2016 0:04:16 GMT 1, The London Police Untitled Original from their shop in Amsterdam (about 16 years ago according to the original owner I bought it from). The whites are little faded and its is a little dirty so I need to figure out how to either clean/fix it or frame it so it doesn't get worse. It's like a smaller, poor mans Lovers to me. I've heard that if you take wadded up damp bread and kind of just press and release using it almost like clay you can remove a lot of dirt. If I were you, I would try that technique on the side of the piece first and see how it works. Good Luck. This process is an old draftman technique and it works for minor marks on paper as I've tried it, although not on prints. I'm not sure if it would work the same on a canvas or ground in dirt and dust. On paper the technique is to use 'cheap white bread', crusts removed and scrunched up. I certainly wouldn't use damp bread! Save that for the ducks.

Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by jusdeep on Oct 30, 2016 10:58:46 GMT 1, Prints and originals bought at Lazarides from this era are normally signed by Steve and thumb printed in red ink on the COA. I think this stopped late 2008/'09.

Eine "LOVE" Lenticular at ArtRepublic, by jusdeep on Oct 30, 2016 10:40:59 GMT 1, Here's the Artists' Personal Inspiration Edition... I tend to agree, although it's been that way for a long while. The only way this would be vaguely interesting is if the lenticular worked from Love to Hate.

New Hush Print - Halo (coming this month), by jusdeep on Oct 26, 2016 12:03:10 GMT 1, Both are nice. The black frames the image nicely, but I also like the white as it does what it should and 'lets the image do the talking'. Would probably go for a similar thickness in frame for the white as I think A is a little overpowering.

Moniker Art Fair, by jusdeep on Oct 8, 2016 10:29:30 GMT 1, I went along to the private view and also popped in briefly yesterday to see I had missed anything and to check out the Crossroads show next door and Punk on Paper in Dray's Walk.
I get what people are saying with it losing it's edge or 'Urban nature' since Village Underground but I think this years is the strongest it's been in a long while and with shows like this you can't stick to a single generic format and expect it to keep on working. A lot of these shows unfortunately boil down to money and keeping sponsors and stallholders happy so change is inevitable.
I think Tina has done a great job to bring it back on form and bring some current technology and interactivity to the show. I'm not the biggest fan of VR or app based interactivity, but it has relevance.
I thought the quality of work in Moniker was stronger and more varied. My only negative would be that lack of interesting and innovative spaces created, (like the SOS tent, Polly Morgan's taxidermy studio etc) and that TOAF was very weak this year, even with Saatchi Art present again.
Unfortunately this is where a lot of the sponsorship money is at and it brings in crowds from Frieze and a different type of buyer. Personally I would love to see it more Urban, but unfortunately this would probably mean minimal funding, downsizing, moving to a smaller location and a fraction of the people would visit.

Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by jusdeep on Sept 28, 2016 21:21:29 GMT 1, That's what I just said :-) so did I lol. I was just confirming that there are back doors that exist and that if they aren't signed then they aren't AP's or PP's. I've seen a few over the years - not many thankfully. Mainly by way of printers Paul uses or even test proofs or digital proofs of works - probably down to someone who's had access to digital files at some point, liked the image, run one out and have sold at a later date.

FS: Shepard Fairey -Original Fine Art Stencil on Collage 1/1, by jusdeep on Aug 10, 2016 10:46:37 GMT 1, A holy grail piece for me. I have the screen print, but, this is in another league. I did look to pick this up (or the same imagery, but a different size) at auction a few years ago, but wasn't able to. Unfortunately out of my range at the moment. Best of luck with the sale. Me too, I have the print and it's one of my faves and would love to upgrade to an original. I think possibly one of, if not my favourite Shep image. Unfortunately my wife would kill me as I'm sure it's out of my reach.

Tracey Emin Print, Original, WANTED, by jusdeep on Jul 23, 2016 17:48:19 GMT 1, After a while with no luck, I'm giving this another shot as it's the last I need in the series. So I'm looking to swap one of my signed posters for a signed and mint 'I Promise to Love You'.
Just to make it clear. I need this…
…and would swap for any one of these, (all signed and mint):
My Favourite Little Bird Love is What You Want But Yea My Heart is with You Always You Loved Me Like a Distant Star The Kiss was Beautiful
Shoot me a direct message. Thanks. JD

'Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick' | Somerset House, by jusdeep on Jul 12, 2016 6:10:28 GMT 1, Popped along to the exhibition yesterday. Got to be the best show of the year so far for me. The Haroon Mirza & Anish Kapoor was mesmerizing - could have spent the whole afternoon in that one room. Such a great line-up of artists and a very well conceived show which really does play with all your senses. Changes in temperature, sound, light, visuals, smell. Could not recommend it enough.
Any idea what Thomas Bangalter made? Flashback - the Thomas Bangalter room was a short film. Camera A, Scene 136, Take 1, 2005-2016. I think a scene from Daft Punk's Electroma.

KAWS x Uniqlo, by jusdeep on Jun 14, 2016 15:12:24 GMT 1, Weird how the tote bags are listed as men's accessories Why weird? Bag's are men's accessories… unless of course you mean as it could be a shopping bag it should be listed in women's. ;D
Picked up a t-shirt and tote myself the other day, seemed quite good quality for the price.

Eelus: Secure a PP or a XL Lenticular AP, by jusdeep on Jun 1, 2016 17:45:03 GMT 1, To be fair he has always done AP's and unsigned from the editions, all the way back to Shat At and WYLA. These recent variations of the edition are becoming a bit of a joke though, almost as bad as Grafter's Splash!

Ebay policies, by jusdeep on Mar 26, 2016 8:44:35 GMT 1, You would be protected if paying through Paypal if the item turns out to be a fake, was a misleading description or not as described. The only thing to be careful about is to check all the facts with the seller beforehand or anything you are unsure of. Sometimes descriptions can be misleading, or worded in a way that could start alarm bells ringing. If the pictures taken are not great, out of focus or taken in poor light, get the seller to send you better ones. Ask for receipts, proof of purchase or a back history. Obviously if the seller gets back and says they have rock tight provenance and it is 100% legitimate you would have a stronger case if it was to turn out not to be what it said it was.
Regarding time-frame. I'm sure as long as you don't leave positive feedback you would have a while to get the artwork checked out. Although I'm not sure exactly how long.
If meeting in person make sure you check the artwork out before handing your money over. Your rights for a refund would still stand and would be as above. If it's a Banksy or anything else that is known to be faked on a regular basis, arrange to get it checked out before handing your money over.

Fake Bast pieces on Ebay, by jusdeep on Mar 11, 2016 23:25:46 GMT 1, To be fair on Paul, although he doesn't have the best of track records he did remove the listing. The piece was listed incorrectly, but ultimately he should have done his homework beforehand.
The street piece from the American seller is another matter and is the one that should be concentrated on here. I can't believe eBay don't seem to do anything nowadays when you report a listing.

Fake Bast pieces on Ebay, by jusdeep on Mar 10, 2016 9:12:12 GMT 1, It appears the 'slut rider' piece is likely to be by Dr Bastard and not Bast. Strangely there are connections between the two, although I won't go into that here.
I have been in conversation with both sellers, although neither as yet have amended accordingly or cancelled their auctions.
The seller of the street piece has been informed the artist has accredited the work as a fake but seems to be selling it on behalf of a collector. Could just be a case of not knowing/checking facts before purchasing or buying in good faith. Just another cautionary tale for checking provenance before buying.

Fake Bast pieces on Ebay, by jusdeep on Mar 9, 2016 20:48:15 GMT 1, Aaah, I now know who one of the culprits is. With a Doncaster address it could be no other. And yes, my suspicions confirmed, it's on his facebook page.
