Handmade miniature NYC doorway, by Balboa on Jan 8, 2022 12:36:01 GMT 1, My reason for preferring not to share the artist is because I’ve had people contacting artists after sharing details on here before and getting pieces almost exactly the same as mine, making mine way less original than it once was. Apologies, I know it’s selfish. It hurts the artist to do this.
I rewarded the artist by buying from them in the first place.

No, it was way better than those.
The buyer has the details. It’s down to them if they wish to share.

Jeff Koons 🇺🇸 Balloon Dog • Sculpture • Art For Sale, by Balboa on Dec 14, 2021 14:30:56 GMT 1, Didn’t these ship from the US of A? If so, that fee has nothing to do with Brexit. Should we just pay 5% in the UK as a limited edition artwork, does anyone know? If so, is it worth trying to claim back the additional 15% from HMRC?
That would depend on the process used to make it.
5% VAT applies to the following:
“Goods classified under heading 9702 include:
-original engravings -prints -lithographs
These goods must have been produced in limited numbers and exclude those made by mechanical or photomechanical processes.”

JR first NFT now available, by Balboa on Nov 27, 2021 19:42:00 GMT 1, JR just alluded to sending out pieces of the original artwork to holders in his AMA This is amazing! Can't wait to get a piece of it
What would you do with it? Arrange for all the other holders to fly to Giza and piece them all together? Let’s be honest, it’ll be quite underwhelming in isolation.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by Balboa on Oct 23, 2021 7:44:38 GMT 1, Regardless of whether you/we think it is real or not - you would have to jump through hoops to prove it to someone else if you ever find you want/need the cash. I don't know how much the seller is asking - but if it is £500 then you have potentially lost that £500 if nobody else believes it is real (or if it is indeed a proven fake). If you buy directly from Laz Emporium then at least you will have the real thing and be able to sell on again. Yes, it costs more, but you should be able to sell for a few £ less than whatever Laz is currently asking. He is charging £1,750, so he'd have to drop it to £1,250 for you to lose that theoretical £500 from the example above.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Balboa on Oct 22, 2021 10:47:30 GMT 1, Nice. But unless you want it to transform into a mirror when the lights are on, I recommend switching to low reflective glass/acrylic.
While waiting to pick up my physical Currency I managed to get this one in a frame. They do look nice framed….

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Oct 17, 2021 8:50:29 GMT 1, I like the physical but I’d be amazed if more than 1000 people go for it.
Really? I’d be amazed if less than half take the physical.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Sept 9, 2021 16:00:52 GMT 1, Happily no tax as it was bought out of a joint bank account with my wife. We therefore have two CGT allowances which is more than enough to cover it. Thanks for asking though! I didn't actually asking anything - but thank you for the response!

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Sept 9, 2021 15:37:14 GMT 1, I've spent far too much on art in the last few months, culminating in a wonderful Vespers (No 336 if you are so interested to look) and I found myself rather short of funds...in fact very short of funds! Crisis looming...how do I explain this to my lovely wife? Solution: Damien to the rescue...I had two of these NFTs from issue and just sold one of them. Yes I know, a considerable decline from the top...but still just over £20,000 of clear profit. All things being equal I'll hold (or in NFT speak "hodl") the other one until deep into the one-year period and see what happens. I have to say that I originally was 100% going to go physical but I have test printed one from the high-def download and if the truth be told I don't really like it that much! Sacrilege! Crisis averted...thanks Damien! I do hope that's £20,000 of clear profit after paying the appropriate amount of tax

Banksy Staycation not finished???, by Balboa on Aug 18, 2021 14:26:04 GMT 1, Absolutely not , great idea and pretty well executed, feet are not touching the ground. Rookie error… Adding feet whatsoever is a rookie error if the artist is trying to make people think it is a Banksy.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Aug 18, 2021 11:25:32 GMT 1, I don’t know how this could work, so excuse me for thinking out loud... Is there a way that a few of us could split the cost of one of these? Basically a shared ownership. Probably a silly idea but I’d thought I’d throw it out there. I’m not technically savvy (or rich) enough to buy one. Hence the thought. Shoot me down… Extremely difficult given one person would have the keys to the wallet and if one person decided to move it then it would be gone forever. Find a close friend or family member maybe, but I wouldn't do it with a random UAA member
Agreed. But unfortunately none of my friends or family members have an interest in art. Not many of them would even know who Damien Hirst is let alone know anything about this project.

Banksy Cushions Gross Domestic Product™, by Balboa on Aug 13, 2021 19:34:39 GMT 1, asking price would b great as i’m not hip 2 the resale market on these…. The 2 sets that I am aware of that sold were slightly north of $40K USD.
But a pair also failed to sell at Heritage with a $30,000 ‘Buy it now’.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Aug 12, 2021 16:27:53 GMT 1, I’m still at a loss re: how to frame one of these, given the handmade edges, and that the sig and so much else is verso / shouldn’t be covered. Anyone have a good example of a similar work? (Asking for approx 5000 friends 😂).
Put it inside a transparent document sleeve and pin that to the wall. You can turn it round whenever you please.
You’re welcome.

How "Particular" your Hirst "Currency" is?, by Balboa on Jul 26, 2021 15:06:38 GMT 1, So, here are some nice stats... 0.02% ( 2paintings) enter in the 1%top/low range+tags 7 times, 0.15% (15 paintings) enter 6 times, 0.13% (13 paintings) 5 times, 0.44% (44 paintings) enter 4 times, 1.31% (131 paintings) enter 3 times, 4.79% (479 paintings) enter 2 times, 19.63% (1963 paintings) enter in 1 category. The remaining is to be considered "in the beautiful average" Does this include colors and a combo of low and high? Mine is top 1% for Green, Yellow, and Black and bottom 1% for Red and Blue. 9015
I’m sorry, but your maths is out. 1% of 10,000 is the top or bottom 100 in each category.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Jul 25, 2021 13:38:07 GMT 1, Yes, Yes, Yes! Thanks to the generosity of ubl, I am in the game. What an incredible gesture - and he took the time to call me and help through the process (because in all honestly the whole process made me feel like a technological dinosaur at the ripe old age of 46!)
It's nice to know there are still a few good people around this place.
Mine scored 95 for drips and 9,835 for weight. Better get some extra-long screws for the framing then

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Jul 24, 2021 11:58:30 GMT 1, If anybody with multiple successes would like to share the joy by passing one on then please let me know.
As one or two others may attest, I have passed things on myself shortly after release at cost when an easy profit could’ve been made.
Not holding out much hope but thought I’d ask.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Balboa on Jul 24, 2021 8:57:59 GMT 1, It didn't appeal to my sense of fairness to create additional addresses just to increase my chances of winning. Life isn’t fair. With that attitude you’ll never get ahead. +3 across 3 different emails.
What a patronising thing to say. You know nothing about me or how far ahead or behind I am in life.
Needless to say I am financially secure enough to not need to create multiple email accounts just to make a few quid on some Hirsts 😉
