Yes please if anyone can help after DSS111 and Kunstraen have been sorted. Happy to chuck in a little extra to make it worthwhile.

I do think it looks great and would love it on my wall, especially if it's affordable.

If BA would allow it, I'd be willing to get a few for members who cannot make it to the show.

Really wish I was going to the show cause I love it and would def buy one! We need more artists to follow Faile to Scotland!

Contraband 2 - Aug 8th 2014 Hollywood, CA, by met on Jul 19, 2014 2:00:14 GMT 1, Harland Miller seems very much odd man out in the above roster. Is Miller actively participating in Contraband 2 and submitting artwork, as the e-flier might suggest? If not, would it be correct at least to assume that โ by way of courtesy and out of respect for the artist โ you as a gallerist / curator obtained Miller's consent for his name to be used in the show's publicity material? All artists listed are actively participating and submitting works especially for the show. I actually had a great meeting with Harland , amazing individual, and was ecstatic he was going to submit exclusive pieces for this show, some coming out of his own personal collection which he then spent weeks extensively hand finishing. As for his style, I try not to draw any lines between say "urban" and "contemporary". If I like it and the artist is willing, I'll show it. Thank you for your response.
Names of well-known artists are regularly used to promote random, pop-up group exhibitions. However, what often transpires is that, at the shows themselves, a couple of token secondary market prints (by Hirst, Banksy or whomever else) have been included. Sometimes these aren't even for sale, or they've been artificially marked as sold โ the whole purpose of the fiction being to ride the coattails of recognisable names, without the relevant artists' knowledge or consent, to advertise otherwise unremarkable shows.
I am pleased the above does not apply to Contraband 2.
And given the care Harland Miller seems to take in selecting the brick-and-mortar galleries that represent him and sell his work, this no doubt says a great deal about your charm and persuasion skills.
Good luck with the upcoming show.

Contraband 2 - Aug 8th 2014 Hollywood, CA, by met on Jul 19, 2014 4:02:37 GMT 1, Harland Miller seems very much odd man out in the above roster. What makes him the odd man out? Think he's done some brilliant work just like the others I wasn't sure if this might be a knowing, facetious comment โ and therefore a rhetorical question โ or whether it was serious. At the risk of showing my sarcasm detector has failed me, I'll take the question at face value.
"odd man out" for different reasons:
We could have a lengthy and potentially interesting debate about the calibre or freshness of the output by the various artists, but this to a large extent comes down to individual preferences based on personal taste, knowledge and experience.
A discussion could also be had on what can arguably be described as curatorial discord in artistic styles. However, Black Apple Art has already addressed this point and confirmed his/her selection criteria.
Objectively, the biggest difference between Harland Miller and most, if not all, of the others in this group show is in terms of art-world hierarchical position and name recognition:
- On the one hand, you have an acclaimed writer and artist now entering his sixth decade, whose work is readily accepted by Christie's or Sotheby's for their contemporary auctions, and who's represented (among others) by White Cube.
- On the other hand, you have younger, emerging artists, still largely unknown to the broader art world, whose work might be accepted by some urban art ghetto-niche auction at Dreweatts, and who may be represented by the likes of Graffiti Streetprints. [This is no slight against Graffiti Streetprints. Everyone has to start somewhere; they just aren't on the same level as a gallery like White Cube.]
Hope that helps to explain my previous comment.

Peek at the stunning hand finished Ernest wood prints. He literally spent 3 days straight on these and no two are alike. Will have some at Contraband 2 and the rest will drop on line after the show.
