delete, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Jul 14, 2015 18:35:03 GMT 1, They come from different parts of Ireland Northern and Southern. I think Fintans work is a little less classical and touching on modern elements with a classical feel and using props and frames, like Enerst Zach has done outside. This however has elements of Carravagio or Bacchus about it in style. Just my opinion for what is worth. ย Fintan stopped posting on FB, Twitter, Flickr etc in 2014. Dropped off the radar completely. The management and initial show was PR'd to death, quite a cynical and managed introduction. Ted Pimm comes out of nowhere a year later. No history, no flickr, no street work, zero studio work. 5 pieces to his name produced in isolation on walls that no one anywhere has ever seen or documented.ย Work of that quality, there'd be a long history of how he got there. Art school, friends, a history of liking street art/graf etc, sketches, studio work. And it's said he painted these over a period of 6 years !!! what, and no one found them, and there wasn't any stylistic change in that period, and the lighting was the same for each shot. lol. I smell a rat managed by a cynical "manager" trying to play the scene. Also Chriswoods, you seem to have registered on the Banksy Forum the same day as the post was made on SAN. Are you the manager maybe ? None of this detracts from the actual technical side of the work, which I love. But how it's been introduced, wow. Ever felt like you've been played ?
Good post, be interesting to see what happens next..

but I have to say that I don't think it is bad to make new and different work under a different name (if that is the case here) It is actually very common to do that right?! Look at writers and musician's. This gives the artist freedom to experiment and publish works that would not "fit the bill".
Even giving the new works and the "new artist" a make-believe background story isn't a bad thing really.. It is all about imagination anyways ;-) And you have to do it if you use a pseudonym to publish work.
If Chriswoods IS managing the artist, this would be very bad PR for the artist. If I have learnt anything it would be being strait and fourth coming. And I have to say it also feels a bit fishy how you Chriswoods introduce his work and comment.. it all is just a little to perfect.
But the work it self is amazing! Well done Ted Pimm

New members shouldn't be treated like this. We should be encouraging these posts and talking about the art, that's what matters, as people hopefully come to this forum to learn about new artists. C'mon guys.

delete, by Mirus Gallery Poesia on Jul 15, 2015 0:40:31 GMT 1, I think its fair point as the istagram user is new and the art really did come out of left field. I really am into curating better as a Blog and Gallery, What Nuart is saying is correct that we should look for progression in artists, looking at how an artist arrived at where he is at currently is a key point to taking an artist seriously. Its great to see new art but everything looks good at first what will stand the test of time is a series of variables good art being only one of them.
I dont see the comments as negative, I just think its thinking out loud a little how a curator thinks when approached with a new artist and trying what to make of it. Yes its great for someone to share new work but this is part of the discussion and something to look out for before jumping all in as many have done before with many other artists. Where are all these others who where hot now. I can name a handfull but would rather not name names. But who knows SAN posted it maybe well see a print release soon from another artist with no real track record of work, or a solo exhibit in 6 months. Time will tell as Social Media makes stars overnight in todays art scene.

delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 4, 2016 13:53:38 GMT 1, I've just had a quick look at the images of Ted Pims paintings in the abandoned buildings, and downloaded the largest one's I could find from www.streetartnews.net/2015/07/ted-pim-series-of-baroque-pieces-in.html.
The two I think people will find most interesting are the ones that were titled (by Street Art News) 'Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010.jpg' and 'Old Factory, Atlanta 2012.jpg', which should mean two completely different abandoned rooms in buildings thousand of miles apart (I have not edited the images at all, not even resized them, just uploaded as I found them on Street Art News).
But, have a look at the flaking paint at the bottom of both walls from left to right, the flakes are exactly the same shapes and in the same position!
Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
And a closer crop of both...
Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010 DETAIL by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 DETAIL by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
I am hoping street art news labelled them wrong, and they were both painted in the same room, but then that would preclude he painted one then painted the next directly on top.
Can someone please prove my misgivings wrong...
AP detective agency signing off!

delete, by Deleted on May 4, 2016 14:35:00 GMT 1, Baroque meets Bacon etc there is a lot of similar art made by other artists including on Saatchi online etc. It's easy enough to paint.
The art above does look photoshopped onto a derelict background and as above, it could be just an error in the article.
is it that easy to get a write up in Street Art news?
get me an agent, anyone will do

The quality of scanner was pretty bad, and I had no idea how far the scans would travel online, otherwise I would have a. Cleaned the photographs! and B. Used a better scanner with higher resolution." Take it for what it's worth. As a forum member I always appreciate the opinions and discussion of art and find them very valuable. The contributions that we make to this forum not only help us to learn more about art and artists but it helps to weed out the fakes and bad sellers so hopefully nobody gets ripped off. However, in this case Ted Pim is real and a real artist.

I agree comping can be done in images when elements from one photo taken in the same place and the same time are better than another (so merged). But with this example of paintings in totally different rooms 1000's of miles apart, you're saying he decided to add the floor from Sevilla to Atlanta (or vice versa) because it was better. Combined with the same peeling paint along the bottom of the wallโฆ and didn't think it would seem slightly dodgy?
Sorry Winter but I'm going to disagree with your second point too! If you look at the bottom of the painted black backgrounds on both, they have the same shapes and patterns appearing at the same points along the wall (except for in the middle and far right of Atlanta piece where it slightly differs).
Having said all that, everything (apart from harryh74 's observation of the ceiling) can be explained by a simple misnaming of one of the jpgs, and they were painted in the same room with different lighting.
I have no issues, problems or vendetta's with Ted Pimโฆ but having done some photo manipulation in the past find these abandoned building images fascinating as they are advertised as being painted in completely different locations.
[Edit: see post aboveโฆ bingo, labelled wrong! I will crawl back in to my hole now]

Once we get those questions answered then......what happened to the images as discussed above and why ?

delete, by Deleted on May 4, 2016 20:21:44 GMT 1, With the help of polymindset I've emailed Ted and asked if I can meet up and have a look around his Belfast studio. I'll let you all know how I get on! If there are any particular questions people would like to ask please PM me....... Was chatting to him today, nice chap. He'll be painting in sunny Berlin in the not too distant future for Urban Nation. Still think those street pieces are shady as f**k though ;-). Sorry Ted ;-)

That alongside; hes from Ireland so his art is not conventional enough for most of the galleries so he just drifted, no real story. Just didn't have contacts to open doors. Julia at Fresco now is helping him get his work out there, no real mystery or conspiracy." Is this taken from somewhere? Was just a bit confused by the quotation marks.
