delete, by Poly Mindset on May 4, 2016 23:19:13 GMT 1, With the help of polymindset I've emailed Ted and asked if I can meet up and have a look around his Belfast studio. I'll let you all know how I get on! If there are any particular questions people would like to ask please PM me....... Was chatting to him today, nice chap. He'll be painting in sunny Berlin in the not too distant future for Urban Nation. Still think those street pieces are shady as f**k though ;-). Sorry Ted ;-) Why would you even doubt that those paintings on the wall are real after all that we have discovered about Ted Pim? Why would he have those photos and claim that they are his work if they weren't? And they are all in his style of work. It's one thing to promote yourself as an artist but it's never going to be worth the risk of ruining everything for yourself and your career if say you did something that you didn't. Once someone is found to be a fraud their career is over. Remember "Big Eyes". Nuart, you sound like a conspiracy theorist and I suggest you think more about what you are going to say before you post it. Maybe you just can't believe that Ted is just that damn good. Not only is he that damn good but he's an honest guy and an artist with integrity. So I hope after this you will just shut the Fuck up and stop pissing me off. I'm pissed off enough about everything else in this world. Yours truly, the nice American. Polymindset out.

This thread is art. Find some examples of contemporary classical painters, who's practice is based on techincal prowess and the mastery of figurative oil painting and chiaroscuro at the age of just 22 who doesn't want to be known ? He's also someone who's skill at transferring this in large scale to outside walls is unprecedented, a young artist whose mastery of technique, with no previous practice or experience make Conor Harrington and Borondo look like amateur journeyman. I think everything is, at the very least, "questionable", don't you ? I sincerely hope that I'm wrong about those works as I'd love to work with him in the future and see him get the recognition he deserves outside of the transient world of SAN, Buzzfeed and Cool Hunter etc.

Funny thing is this thread does more to spark the flame of curiosity than a thread that strictly is about fawning over the art. His art is certainly suspect though, i would agree.

But Fintan did email him at one time saying how much he liked his work, which was some time ago. They don't keep in touch. I think this pretty much settles all the controversy concerning Ted Pim. Now, we can all just simply enjoy his art. Thank you Trapnel1 for your efforts with this thread.

I've met with the artist and seen his work in his studio. Based on the evidence I've seen I have no doubt at all about the quality of the work.
In more general terms, I'm sure there are many artists with fantastic technical ability painting quietly for their own pleasure of whom the members of this forum remain completely unaware....

Good thing there were no works released after the initial hype and controversy. Reminds me of penny stocks.

delete, by delano on May 7, 2016 13:10:39 GMT 1, I have been following this thread with a growing sense of fear & dread.
I believed I had recently purchased a canvas from this elusive Ted Pim character. Was it a figment of my imagination?
I believed I had a long & meaningful exchange of emails with Ted about his art, his backgrounf, his hopes for the future & his upcoming show. Was this one of those email scams akin to a lonely heart scheme as featured on The One Show? We were warned about this.
I believed I had sent funds to Ted to pay for the aforesaid 7ft canvas. Had I been duped like those Nigerian diamond schemes?
Had it all been a dream?
I returned home with a feeling of trepidation. What had I done?
But....
The canvas was where I thought it was, the emails were real & I did send the money to Ted's account. Panic over...
& the nice young man even wrote his name on the side & back of the painting.

Ok, so those "street" pieces are real and were painted between 2009 and 2014 in abadoned buildings around the world ? find me one. If not, then you're still being played. They're photoshopped, created as a skam marketing ploy to sell a body of work off the back of "street art" culture. Look forward to being proved wrong. There must be 100's if not 1000's of images online of those works.

Hey man, believe what you want because obviously it doesn't matter what anyone says or any images posted by anyone who owns Teds work is going to change your mind. If you are really after the answers you seek why don't you just ask Ted (I know you have his email and have been in touch with him) or go to his studio and talk to him personally and see his work. Here's a question for you, what proof do you have that those paintings aren't real? It's called burden of proof in a court of law and it is up to the prosecution (you). So until you have concrete proof that they never existed I guess we'll just have to believe Ted and all the other art lovers who have seen or own his work. So until proven otherwise, all I can say is that you bore me.
Additionally, I did asked him if he was now or ever had been Fintan Switzer or if there was any connection to him. He told me that he was not now, nor had ever been Fintan. But Fintan did email him at one time saying how much he liked his work, which was some time ago. They don't keep in touch. I think this pretty much settles all the controversy concerning Ted Pim. Now, we can all just simply enjoy his art. Thank you Trapnel1 for your efforts with this thread. Hey man, believe what you want because obviously it doesn't matter what anyone says or any images posted by anyone who owns Teds work is going to change your mind. delete, by Dungle on May 7, 2016 21:55:01 GMT 1, The thing is it has nothing to do with what Ted says. Clearly he exists no one is disputing that.
What is ludicrous is that no one had ever laid eyes on these works that were supposedly painted in abandoned buildings around the world.
Well they are abandoned buildings you say. That doesn't wash because if you created work of that quality which clearly makes the likes of Harrington and Borondo look like beginners then you would be shouting from the roof tops about it. And as soon as you did your work would be documented by the many street art photographers out there.
So yes he exists, yes he is talented, but the outdoor work is very questionable and it is of the back of that that a lot of his marketing is being done. That's not cool IMO. And yes I have spoken to Ted over email many times over the last few years.

And yes I have spoken to Ted over email many times over the last few years. Trying to discredit this man/this artist's integrity with no proof to the contrary is nothing more than a witch hunt, and IMO shameful. I think this has everything to do with what Ted says. Two questions for you sir, 1. if you have spoken to Ted over the last few years by email. I suppose you have asked him these question. So what was his reply? I asked him about those paintings myself and as stated in an earlier post, he said "These images are scanned developed photographs, of the same wall, labelled wrong." If you look at the rubble in the bottom of the two paintings closely you will see that the rubble is not entirely exactly the same, there are very subtle differences. Look again closely. 2. Currently, who is marketing Ted besides himself? Maybe a few pieces in a couple of small galleries, but nothing major. A few old articles on the internet? I don't see a lot of marketing being done on the backs of these outside paintings and they certainly had nothing to do with my decision to purchase a Ted Pim painting. Additionally, many artist paint for many different reasons, quite presumptive of you to state that everyone who has great talent as a painter is doing it just to become famous. Still waters run deep. Of course in the end you are entitled to your opinion.

delete, by thomasmer on May 8, 2016 5:45:35 GMT 1, I'd like to see some pictures of these abandoned buildings that dont look like they're photoshopped on, or the same wall painted over and over.
Granted, he can paint, but the abandon building story stinks to high heaven.

1. The joy of discovering some impressive new "street art" produced in abandoned buildings around the world over the last 6 years. 2. To the concern that the buildings and style looked suspiciously similar considering the distance and time involved in their production. 3. Leading to questions about the legitimacy of the information in the initial press release. 4. Leading to a questions about the artists identity. 5. Leading to the conclusion that, though he does indeed exist, the street works are in fact photoshopped, the evidence being that there is only one shot of each work, released by the artist, and that no other person, in the age of urbex, instaeverything and cameraphones has seen or documented the work, over a six year period. 6. Leading to the suspicion that they were photoshopped to take advantage of the "street art" scene, specifically to sell a body of studio based work.

delete, by trapnel1 on May 8, 2016 12:33:23 GMT 1, With the help of polymindset I've emailed Ted and asked if I can meet up and have a look around his Belfast studio. I'll let you all know how I get on! If there are any particular questions people would like to ask please PM me....... Was chatting to him today, nice chap. He'll be painting in sunny Berlin in the not too distant future for Urban Nation. Still think those street pieces are shady as f**k though ;-). Sorry Ted ;-) I think we should just be pleased to have become aware of a talented and interesting artist, who hopefully will have a good future!
I doubt if we can take the story of the older pieces much further, though I have no doubt that Ted has been in those places. He will be painting in Berlin shortly though, so presumably that process will be better documented..........

delete, by BKBOI on May 8, 2016 14:21:59 GMT 1, Did anyone ask Ted if OP was part of the artist's management team? If not, how many of Ted's work ended up with OP since he got super excited and just had to register on UAA just to start this thread (was actually his first ever post).
I really look forward to seeing his works on the streets. He seems like a very talented artist and hopefully he will be able to shake off this very dubious intro to the street art world.
