What Has Become Of This Forum?, by Pysgod on Sept 26, 2018 8:14:51 GMT 1, I have given some thought as to whether or not to start a thread about this site, given the way my competition thread went after a few over zealous members starting getting involved.
There seems to be some members on here who act with absolute impunity on this site.ย Citing hatred, stirring up trouble for s**ts and giggles, false accusations and are simply stupid.ย
I will probably get banned and this thread will probably be deleted, because free speech isn't a right on this forum (never really has been), its a luxury as long as you tow the line.ย How does someone like irl1 who from reading only a few of his early posts, go from a serial flipper and obvious chancer (those nativity souveniers are truly an embarassement) to someone who calls others "p*ick", "muppet" or acts like a very angry short person, everytime he is confronted and acts like an absolute imbecile and yet isnt banned?ย Or Lroy, irrespective to how bad his English is, seems to act like a child throwing his toys out of his pram with every post, because he hasnt and doesnt get what he wants?ย
Is Freerange still an admin of this site?ย Where he has the ability to ban or get people banned who he doesnt like or calls him out? He and Silky are they still thick as thieves?ย Does Silky still encourage confrontation as it was good for pageviews?
This forum used to be a place of knowledge, where in the early days, the likes of Pest Control, Pictures On Walls, Laz, and many other early street art galleries, artists (even Banksy) used to use this place to engage with like minded people who appreciated the art and the scene.ย To now where it is a place for bickering, misogyny and bullying, it reads like you in a room with 100's of Donald Trumps.ย Flippers are adored and knowledge is frowned upon.ย One thing for sure, old members are posting less and less.
Anyway I suspect I will get banned for just even thinking this way about this place.ย But seriously look at how little civilised interaction or knowledge is expressed on this forum.ย Feels like a place that with every post is a powder keg waiting to be ignited and explode.

I'd agree what you say in terms of lroy he comes across as having a addictive personality disorder. But if that's the case then isn't collecting art rather than spending it on drink, drugs or gambling far better. I got 2 large plan chests with at least 200 works in. I'm guilty of this.

So honestly : do you really feel you have the moral high ground here ? Could it be that your posts are a perfect embodiment of the sour mood ?

To be honest, I don't see people getting excited about an official piece of Banksy merchandise, whatever the price point or whether it's called a "postcard" or not, as a bad thing.
Naturally the excitement turned in all kinds of directions, but it's really nice to see it caused a reaction and got people interested and talking.
Banksy still has that effect. The cynical call it greed, but it's also an effect of his popularity.

What Has Become Of This Forum?, by mack on Sept 26, 2018 11:57:02 GMT 1, I was never part of "the good ole days" but the general tone on basically every forum on the internet has changed dramatically the last few years. Wouldn't say this forum is worse than others though. The internet evolves, so does the people using it. Some threads get a little out of hand, but what can you expect?
